Job Description

Project description:
  • Our client is looking for an engineering tech III to scale the team against RAC goals for 2026 and 2027.
They have multiple large customers in the pipeline being scoped and recently signed a $47M deal with the government that will require them to deliver a 100 RAC system's over the next year and a half. Additionally, they are aiming to deliver more RACs to drydock and marketing events as they scale to the target of 50 RACs per quarter over the next couple of years.
  • The Engineering Technician III will help with mechanical assembly for their new automated racking system. 80% of this role will be mechanical assembly, a lot of cabling and working with hand tools. 20% will be electromechanical assembly with some documentation.
Team Breakdown:
Sr. Engineering Manager, 6 Design Engineers, 2 Technicians, Software Team, & Support Team. About 50-60 people total. Technology environment the consultant will be working in:

  • Aligni Consultants day-to-day responsibilities:
  • Contribute to complex designs and build infrastructure for automating high-throughput lab processes
System Assembly & Integration:
Assist in the design, assembly, and integration of automated lab systems, including mechanical, electrical, and software components.
    Testing & Troubleshooting:
    Perform rigorous testing of automated systems, diagnose issues, and implement solutions to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
      Documentation:
      Maintain detailed records of designs, modifications, testing procedures, and outcomes. Prepare technical reports and user manuals for automated systems.
        Maintenance:
        Provide ongoing maintenance for deployed automation systems, including troubleshooting and repairing as needed.
          Process Improvement:
          Identify opportunities for improving lab automation processes and contribute to the design and implementation of enhancements.
            Collaboration:
            Work closely with engineers, scientists, and other stakeholders to understand lab requirements and ensure automation solutions align with project goals.
            Required Skills:
            • 3-5+ years of experience in a technical role involving automation
            • Previous experience to include: o Mechanical assembly experience and working with common hand tools, such as screwdrivers, socket wrenches, allen sets, & torque wrenches. o Electromechanical experience, such as physical connections with electrical components and system configurations/computer knowledge o Documentation skills
            • ability and comfortability adding to process creation and documentation o Experience using a PLM or Inventory Management System
            • understanding you can't just take parts off the shelf and how to manage that within the system o Ability to read assembly drawings at a basic level, such as a 2D CAD image and being able to sort through the BOM (Bill of Materials) o Working with work instructions and general safety knowledge
