As a Specialist, you will review CAD models and engineering changes, surface serviceability risks early, and partner with engineers to drive design improvements that reduce repair time, tooling complexity, and field failures. What You'll Do Technical individual contributor role embedded with design and engineering teams to inject serviceability requirements into new and sustaining programs Review CAD models, designs, and engineering changes from a serviceability lens; provide direct technical feedback and partner with design engineers to resolve issues before release Apply hands-on technical expertise to assess service complexity, identify design risks, and recommend solutions that reduce repair time, tooling needs, and field failure modes Troubleshoot complex technical issues escalated from the field, working with engineering to identify root causes and drive design or process fixes Contribute to and maintain Design for Serviceability standards, scoring criteria, and technical documentation so knowledge is consistent and accessible across Service Development and engineering Coach and share technical knowledge with service teams and cross-functional partners on design intent, service procedures, and updates Analyze field data and service trends to surface insights, prioritize design improvements, and drive automation opportunities back to engineering What You'll Bring Advanced technician or engineering background (mechanical, manufacturing, automotive, or related), with the ability to read and interpret CAD models, GD&T, and engineering drawings Hands-on technical experience servicing or building complex vehicles or hardware; able to assess service complexity and surface design risks from a technician's perspective Demonstrated ability to embed with design and engineering teams and influence design decisions early — partnering rather than gating Experience driving root cause analysis on field-escalated issues and translating findings into design or process fixes Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts across audiences (design engineers, technicians, leadership) and producing clear standards and documentation Comfort working with field data and service trends; able to use analytics to prioritize design improvements and identify automation opportunities Comfortable in a complex, fluid, fast-paced environment; ability to travel up to 25% of the time to factories, design centers, and service locations Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $96,000 - $144,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
