Position Summary Paramount Extrusions is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Hydraulic Systems Mechanic to join our Maintenance & Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of hydraulic systems across our extrusion manufacturing facility. This includes diagnosing faults, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and repairing hydraulic machinery to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency. You will work closely with engineers, operators, and fellow technicians to uphold the highest standards of safety and system performance. Key Responsibilities Inspection & Diagnostics Conduct routine inspections of hydraulic systems to identify and prevent potential issues before they cause downtime Utilize schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and hydraulic circuit diagrams to diagnose faults Employ computer-aided diagnostic analysis equipment to test and evaluate hydraulic system performance Perform risk assessments prior to commencing significant repair or installation projects Maintenance & Repairs Perform preventive and corrective maintenance including fluid changes, filter replacements, and system calibrations Repair or replace faulty hydraulic components such as pumps, valves, cylinders, and hoses Detect and resolve leaks using appropriate solutions to prevent fluid loss and system degradation Calibrate hydraulic instruments and gauges to ensure accurate readings and reliable operation Respond to emergency repair calls and conduct on-site troubleshooting as required Installation & System Testing Install new hydraulic systems and components per engineering specifications and blueprints Test repaired or newly installed systems to verify optimal pressure, flow rates, and overall performance Operate hydraulic systems to determine and adjust pressure and flow parameters to peak operating levels Fabricate or modify custom parts as needed to meet specific system application requirements Preventive Maintenance & Scheduling Implement and maintain preventive maintenance programs to extend the life cycle of hydraulic equipment Assist in establishing and maintaining maintenance schedules for all hydraulic systems in the facility Manage spare parts inventory and proactively order supplies to prevent production interruptions Stay current with emerging hydraulic technologies and best practices in the field Documentation & Compliance Maintain complete and accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and system modifications Ensure all work activities comply with industry standards, OSHA regulations, and company safety policies Attend safety meetings and actively contribute to the development of workplace safety procedures Perform routine welding and machining tasks as required in support of hydraulic system repairs Team Collaboration & Support Collaborate with engineers and technicians to continuously improve system design and operational effectiveness Mentor and train junior technicians and apprentices on hydraulic maintenance methods and safety procedures Provide technical guidance and operational support to equipment operators Qualifications Technical Knowledge Deep knowledge of hydraulic principles, fluid types, and system components (pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses) Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and specialized hydraulic testing and diagnostic equipment Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, circuit diagrams, and technical manuals Familiarity with related systems including pneumatic, electrical, and their interfaces with hydraulics Basic welding and fabrication experience Analytical & Problem-Solving Abilities Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex hydraulic system issues Basic math skills for calculating pressures, flow rates, and system parameters High attention to detail and precision in all maintenance and repair work Interpersonal & Organizational Skills Effective communication skills — able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical personnel Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with new hydraulic technologies Physical Requirements Physical stamina and ability to repeatedly lift heavy components Good manual dexterity for handling small parts and performing precise adjustments Ability to work in varied environments including indoors, outdoors, and confined spaces Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required; vocational training or associate degree in hydraulics, mechanics, or a related field preferred Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in hydraulic systems maintenance and repair in a manufacturing environment Experience in an extrusion or heavy industrial setting is a plus Basic computer skills for using diagnostic software and maintaining digital maintenance records Compensation & Benefits Competitive compensation based on experience Performance-based bonus opportunities Medical, dental, and vision benefits Paid holidays and PTO 401(k) program Career growth and leadership development opportunities Opportunity to help shape the future of a growing multi-generational manufacturing company Compensation & Benefits The role requires physical effort, strict adherence to safety protocols, and the flexibility to respond to emergency maintenance situations.
