Job Description

Central Valley Gas Storage (CVGS), Northern California's premier underground natural gas storage facility, is seeking a skilled Instrumentation & Electronics (I&E) Technician to join our team. This full-time role offers hands-on technical work in a dynamic environment, along with a rotating on-call schedule. About the
Facility:
Located in Princeton, California, CVGS operates a state-of-the-art storage system with: 12.4 Bcf of storage capacity Over 10,000 horsepower of compression 8 production wells and 4 observation wells 14.6 miles of pipeline Supporting systems including dehydration units, vapor recovery units, and instrument air compressors. The facility operates under strict oversight from PHMSA, DOT, CPUC, and other regulatory agencies, ensuring a strong focus on safety and compliance.
Position Summary:
As an I&E Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of instrumentation and electrical systems throughout the facility. This position requires strong troubleshooting abilities, sound technical judgment, and a proactive, self-driven approach to problem-solving. You'll work both independently and alongside a team of technicians, engineers, and operations staff, contributing to the maintenance and performance of critical equipment and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation, sensors, transmitters, and control systems Perform routine calibration and preventative maintenance on process equipment Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and control system issues Support operation and maintenance of compressors, pumps, valves, and motors Complete work orders efficiently to minimize downtime. Provide input on process improvements and operational efficiency Participate in a rotating on-call schedule Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards Maintain accurate documentation and reports
Qualifications:
High school diploma required Associate's degree in a technical field preferred Instrumentation Experience (2-5 years preferred) Oil & gas and/or industrial gas operations Instrumentation and controls Industrial electrical work Mechanical/industrial maintenance Compressor systems or HVAC Military technical experience (strongly valued)
Skills & Attributes:
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities Ability to interpret process control schematics Mechanical and electrical aptitude Self-motivated with strong organizational skills Effective communication (written and verbal) Commitment to safety and procedural compliance
Work Environment:
This role combines field and light office work and includes: Working outdoors on industrial equipment and uneven terrain Physical tasks such as climbing, lifting, and tool use Driving a company-provided service vehicle Occasional travel for training or facility support

Salary:
The actual starting salary will depend on experience and other factors. The normal work week is 40 hours, Monday through Friday. Other Duties as
