Full Job Description Job Title:
Calibration / Metrology Technician Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on Calibration/Metrology Technician to help transition an outsourced calibration program into an internally managed operation. This role will play a key part in establishing calibration processes, documentation, and best practices during the first 3-6 months while working independently with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have broad calibration experience across multiple instrumentation disciplines and strong documentation skills. Key Responsibilities Manage and prioritize calibration activities for production and facility instrumentation. Develop and implement an in-house calibration program. Coordinate calibration schedules with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to minimize operational downtime. Perform calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of: Pressure gauges and pressure transmitters Temperature gauges and temperature transmitters Flow meters pH and conductivity instrumentation Instrumentation utilizing 4-20 mA signals HART communicator-based devices Support preventive maintenance programs and equipment reliability initiatives. Create, revise, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), calibration procedures, and related documentation. Ensure calibration records comply with company and regulatory requirements. Identify opportunities for process improvements and standardization. Required Qualifications 5+ years of calibration/metrology experience preferred. Candidates with 2-3 years of experience and a relevant technical degree will also be considered. Strong experience calibrating instrumentation across multiple disciplines, including: Pressure Temperature Flow Electrical measurements (voltage/current) RF measurements (preferred) Experience with 4-20 mA instrumentation and HART communication protocols. Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation and measurement systems. Experience writing SOPs, work instructions, and calibration procedures. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision. Preferred Background Candidates with experience from the following environments are highly preferred: Third-party calibration service providers Calibration or metrology laboratories Military metrology/calibration programs Precision Measurement Equipment (PME) Technician roles Companies such as Tektronix or similar calibration service organizations #
