Job Description

Job Title:
Laser Tracker Operator Job Description The Laser Tracker Operator plays a key role in capturing precise 3D dimensional data to support fabrication, assembly, inspection, and quality-driven workflows. This position relies on strong metrology skills, familiarity with engineering documentation, and the ability to verify that components and assemblies meet strict technical standards. Responsibilities Configure and operate API laser tracking systems to obtain accurate spatial measurements for parts, tools, and large assemblies. Carry out alignment, fit up, and inspection activities on mechanical hardware, fixtures, and production assemblies. Read and apply GD&T from technical drawings and CAD references to confirm dimensional compliance. Prepare clear, organized measurement summaries and relay findings to engineering, machining, and quality teams. Perform routine equipment upkeep, calibration, and verification in line with internal procedures and manufacturer guidelines. Record and refine measurement processes to support consistency, traceability, and ongoing improvement. Assist production and quality groups with FAI, in-process checks, and final inspection requirements. Essential Skills 3-5 years of hands-on experience working with laser tracking systems; prior exposure to API trackers is especially valuable. Proficient with laser tracker measurement software. Strong capability in interpreting GD&T, engineering drawings, and 3D CAD references. Ability to work independently and stay productive with limited supervision in a shop or production setting. Demonstrates excellent attention to detail, solid problem-solving ability, and clear communication skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with Verisurf is considered an advantage. Experience with aerospace-related standards or environments is beneficial. Comfortable lifting, transporting, or positioning equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Work Environment The work environment includes an open shop setting, clean room, and walk-in freezer. Occasionally, tasks may be performed in a warehouse setting. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Clemente, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
