Job Description

Performs various tasks typically requiring high degrees of complexity, versatility, and responsibility related to testing, adjusting, and troubleshooting electronic, electromechanical, and/or mechanical subassemblies and small system-like assemblies including one or more of the following: installing, maintaining, repairing, modifying, fabricating, and testing. Generally, requires some supervision or direction by higher level engineers. Responsibilities/Duties Tests, adjusts, troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls electronic and/or electromechanical subassemblies and small system-like assemblies. Repairs malfunctions by adjusting, calibrating, aligning, and/or modifying circuitry and components using soldering, de-soldering, wire-wrapping equipment, and similar tools. Reads, interprets, and works from technical data, schematics, and drawings to test, calibrate, adjust, and troubleshoot electronic and electromechanical assemblies. Provides interface to engineering level for new procedural and special purpose test equipment problem areas. Prepares test procedures and operational instructions. Sets up standard test apparatus and/or configures special purpose test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental and life test to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model. Analyzes and interprets resulting data. Maintains and evaluates existing subsystems for circuitry continuity and operational reliability using electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power meters, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, voltmeters, ammeters, and other related equipment. Performs assembly and wiring procedures necessary to build special test fixtures required for card/chassis alignments. Inspects, tests, repairs, adjusts, and certifies complex electronic assemblies, subassemblies, parts, and systems for compliance with specifications following blueprints, schematic drawings, technical manuals, using hand tools and precision equipment. Installs authorized equipment changes. Assembles and/or modifies wiring, electrical components and system auxiliary fixtures. Assembles digital and/or analog electronic assemblies, printed circuits, using soldering and other hand tools. Installs electrical assemblies and hardware into shelters using tools of the trade. Checks out newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions. Maintains a safe and orderly work area by practicing organized housekeeping and proper use of equipment. Ensure an adequate inventory of replacement parts to support the repair service provided. Maintains written documentation on all developments, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting procedures. Performs Planned Maintenance on various electronic systems and report's findings as necessary. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, ability to stand for a minimum of 4 hours straight, climb stairs or equipment, leaning, lifting, finger, and grasp materials. May be required to travel to repair field equipment. Required Experience A minimum of four (4) years relevant Military experience with the
AN/FPN-63
Precision Approach Radar (PAR) or other similar PAR systems is required. At least one (1) year relevant Military experience with operating and maintaining the
AN/FPN-68 PAR
is also required. Relevant years of experience should include design, develop, testing, adjusting, troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling of electronic, electromechanical, or mechanical subassemblies related to military ship/shore electronic systems; at least two (2) years of which were acquired on digital/analog electronic assemblies. Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical data, schematics, and drawings to test, calibrate, adjust, and troubleshoot electronic and electromechanical assemblies. Excellent working knowledge of general and special-purpose electronic test equipment. Demonstrated knowledge of electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power meters, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, voltmeters, ammeters, and other related equipment. Ability to perform soldering, use crimping tools and daisy chaining techniques. Familiarity with solder ferrules, heat shrink, twisted pair wires, wire color codes and different cable assemblies. Ability to train lower level personnel in the areas of testing, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment. Good written and oral communication skills. Familiarity with safety practices and procedures relating to position. Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance from the Defense Security Service. Ability to obtain/maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
