Machine Operator (Laser Technician) CSL Staffing CSL Staffing is hiring a Machine Operator I / Laser Technician for their client in San Marcos, CA. The machine shop utilizes CNC-controlled laser systems to cut precision parts for the electronics and medical industries. We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented 2nd Shift Manufacturing Associate/ Laser Technician to operate 2-axis laser machining centers in a fast-paced production environment. This is a production-focused role (not R D). Candidates must be comfortable working under tight schedules and maintaining consistent productivity and quality standards.

Position Type :

Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire Work Environment Precision manufacturing of small, fragile electronic and medical components Materials include thin flat alumina ceramics, thin metals (stainless steel, titanium, copper), and plastics No forklifts, no heavy lifting, no cutting fluids Not a warehouse environment Regular, punctual attendance is required Key Responsibilities Under the direction of a supervisor or experienced machinist, the employee will: Operate CNC-controlled laser machining centers to produce quality parts Load parts and operate machine controls Set offsets and perform simple program edits Deburr and inspect parts for conformance to specifications Interpret drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and setup requirements Measure and mark dimensions and reference points on materials and workpieces Detect equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and make allowable adjustments Report all machine malfunctions to the supervisor Communicate with supervisors, engineers, production control, and quality staff to resolve machining or quality issues Maintain a clean and orderly work area Perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment Perform other duties as assigned ________________________________________ Required Skills and Qualifications Experience operating CNC machines (lathes and milling machines) in a manufacturing environment Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check o Setup, offsets, changeovers, and basic program editing experience preferred Ability to transfer CNC milling experience to 2-axis laser machining centers (Aerotech controllers) Proficiency with precision measuring instruments, including: o Calipers o ID and OD micrometers o Depth gauges o Indicators and scales Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications Strong shop math skills Intermediate knowledge of: o Tool holders o Cutting tools o Boring bars o Fixtures and inserts Excellent manual dexterity and attention to visual quality and small features Ability to follow written and oral instructions Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal) Adaptability to changing priorities, delays, and unexpected events Willingness and ability to train on 1st shift if required
