Job Description

Job Title:
Engineering Calibration Technician Job Description This role provides critical support in a highly specialized pressure calibration laboratory, focusing on high‑accuracy pressure calibration and automated workflows. The calibration technician works with primary standard equipment, operates advanced pressure calibration systems, and collaborates closely with senior technical stakeholders from external organizations. This is a priority position due to the niche skill set required and the need to maintain continuity of high‑precision lab operations. Responsibilities Perform high‑precision pressure calibrations across a wide range, from approximately 10 millitor to 1,000 psi. Operate and support automated pressure calibration systems, including setup, configuration, and input of test parameters. Run existing visual/basic automation programs to execute tests and calibrations without the need for coding or scripting. Calibrate pressure instruments and components using primary standard laboratory equipment and high‑accuracy pressure standards. Support daily laboratory operations involving high‑end pressure systems, instrumentation, and reference standards. Use equipment such as the PG 761 automated deadweight system (2.2-1,000 psi) and the FPG 861 low‑pressure system (10 millitor-2.2 psi), as well as other precision pressure lab instruments. Troubleshoot calibration issues and instrumentation problems to ensure accurate and reliable results. Conduct research as needed to resolve complex calibration challenges and to refine and improve calibration processes and workflows. Interact professionally and confidently with directors, technical leads, and engineers from external organizations, including highly technical environments. Demonstrate ownership of assigned work, managing tasks independently in a technical lab setting. Proactively identify and suggest opportunities for improvement within the lab's processes, automation, and overall efficiency. Document calibration activities accurately and maintain compliance with relevant procedures and standards. Essential Skills Strong hands‑on experience with pressure calibration concepts, systems, and workflows. Proficiency in performing pressure calibrations over a wide range, including low‑pressure (millitor) and higher‑pressure applications up to approximately 1,000 psi. Experience working in highly technical environments such as government laboratories, calibration laboratories, or military and aerospace labs. Familiarity with automation tools used for test execution and parameter entry in a laboratory setting. Ability to operate and support automated pressure calibration systems, including visual/basic automation programs. Comfort working independently in a highly technical laboratory environment with minimal supervision. Solid understanding of pressure fundamentals and strong pressure systems knowledge. Skill in troubleshooting instrumentation, air pressure systems, and related calibration equipment. Experience with high‑accuracy instrumentation, including tools such as Fluke or comparable calibration equipment. Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and motivation in previous technical roles. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in calibration, pressure testing, or related technical training. Experience working with primary standard pressure calibration systems, such as automated deadweight testers and low‑pressure systems. Transferable experience using automated laboratory systems for test execution and data entry. High level of initiative, curiosity, and drive to learn and grow in a specialized technical field. Strong problem‑solving mindset with a willingness to research and self‑educate to resolve technical challenges. Preference for candidates who seek variety and continuous improvement rather than focusing solely on repetitive task execution. Ability to contribute quickly and effectively in a new environment with minimal ramp‑up time. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Clara, CA.
