Fiber Optic Technician

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude and experience in network installation and maintenance. As a Fiber Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, splicing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic cables and related telecommunications equipment. This role requires a commitment to quality work and adherence to safety standards. Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic cabling systems in various environments. Perform fiber splicing and termination using industry-standard techniques. Conduct testing of fiber optic networks using voltmeters and other diagnostic tools. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient network installation and troubleshooting. Assist in the installation of low voltage systems, including Ethernet and telephone cabling. Document work performed, including schematics and reports on network performance. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all installations. Requirements Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues. Experience in network installation, particularly with fiber optics. Familiarity with computer networking principles and practices. Proficient in using voltmeters and other testing equipment relevant to telecommunications. Knowledge of low voltage systems, including Ethernet and telephone installations. Experience with cabling techniques specific to fiber optics. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in various settings. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
