This is a production field role for an experienced splicer who can work independently and support large fiber construction activities. Role Overview Perform splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting on backbone, distribution, and FTTH fiber networks in underground and inside environments. Work includes cabinets, handholes, buildings, and customer connections. You will also support cable placement and pulling operations alongside construction crews.
Responsibilities:
Fusion splice underground fiber systems Splice in handholes, pedestals, cabinets, and buildings Terminate fiber panels, ODFs, and equipment Test fiber using OTDR and power meter Read prints and splice diagrams Meet splice loss standards and produce clean closures and documentation Troubleshoot and perform restorations Coordinate with crews during fiber placement and pulls Support underground construction tasks as needed Maintain splicing vehicle, tools, and materials
Qualifications:
3+ years fiber splicing experience in production environments Proficient with fusion splicer, OTDR, power meter, and prep tools Able to read fiber prints and network layouts Experience with underground fiber optic construction Comfortable working in all weather and jobsite conditions Self-directed, reliable, and quality-focused Utility construction or construction equipment operation experience preferred
Requirements:
Valid driver's license and clean record with no DUIs in the last 5 years Ability to travel in and out of Colorado Lift 50 lbs, work outdoors and in confined spaces Drug-free workplace
Pay:
$25-$45/hr based on experience
Schedule:
Mon-Fri 7:00 AM-5:00 PM Occasional nights/weekends Overtime at 1.5× after 40 hrs/week or 12 hrs/day
