Chester, CT Summary:
The Repair Department is a part of Whelen's Customer Service Department. Electronic Technicians repair or replace automotive or aviation products that are sent in from the field that need to be serviced. This involves working all the way to the component level of the circuit and replacing those components or replacing the entire circuit board. Duties and Responsibilities Troubleshooting and repair of electronic circuit boards, manufactured by Whelen Engineering, to the component level and return product to its original or upgraded design specifications. Communicate and document design problems, component failures and initial failures on newly designed product. Maintain high work output without sacrificing quality. Complete all administrative functions relating to documentation of work performed and regulatory requirements (Teardown Reports, FAA Form8130-3, Service Tag, Repair Instruction Checklist). Perform revision updates, rebuild, or repair to drawing specifications using a variety of hand tools, test fixtures, electronic test equipment and soldering equipment. Education and Experience Requirements Ability to read electronic assembly and schematic drawings Must read and write in English Computer literate Ability to learn and maintain J-STD-10 and IPC-a-610II Soldering Standards Work in a team environment Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate safety and service functions. Take Electronic Technician Test for skill level assessment Education and Experience Minimum completion of 2 years Electronic Technical Training. (Private or Military) Physical demands and abilities
Normal Color Vision Vision:
Close vision; ability to work on electronic circuit boards with very small electronic components with the use of a microscope. Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 40 pounds Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach with hands, and arm length, stoop, kneel and crouch. Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel All Employees Shall Comply with the EH&S Policy and applicable regulatory and company EH&S rules and requirements Report to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards Attend scheduled EH&S training program Actively support the organization's efforts to meet or exceed EH&S goals and plans Recommend improved EH&S practices Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and third parties. This ability to communicate requires the employee to be conversant in English as the majority of our workforce and the third parties that we encounter only speak English.
