Job Description

Aerotek is hiring for a day shift Repair Technician/Mechanic in New Castle, DE for a highly reputable manufacturing company! Job Description This role focuses on overhauling and maintaining product components by removing, inspecting, replacing, and fitting parts according to detailed work instructions. You will work with both mechanical and electronic equipment, operate specialized machinery, and document all work performed while upholding high standards of quality, safety, and continuous improvement in a professional repair center environment. Responsibilities Execute all aspects of overhaul maintenance for product components in line with production plan requirements. Remove, inspect, replace, and fit mechanical and electronic components according to established work instructions and technical documentation. Perform cleaning and pre-cleaning of components using equipment such as pressure washers and other appropriate tools. Operate overhead cranes and lifting devices to safely move and position heavy components and assemblies. Use hand tools, basic shop tools, and power tools to carry out mechanical repairs, assembly, and adjustments. Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to complete repair and assembly tasks accurately. Use a laptop and test instruments to support diagnostics, troubleshooting, and fault-finding activities on mechanical and electrical systems. Maintain accurate technical documentation by recording actions, operations performed, and parts used in a clear and timely manner. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and workshop procedures to ensure consistent quality and compliance with standards. Foster and support a Zero Harm culture by consistently following safety procedures, using required PPE, and reporting hazards or incidents. Ensure repaired products meet high quality standards through careful inspection, testing, and verification of work performed. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing repair costs, improving turnaround times, and enhancing overall repair quality. Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment, including workstations, tools, and equipment. Work effectively within a production and repair team to meet schedule commitments and support operational goals in a high-voltage test environment. Essential Skills High School Diploma or GED. Approximately 2 years of experience in a mechanical or electrical environment is preferred. Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to perform repair and assembly tasks. Proficiency in using basic shop tools, hand tools, and power tools for mechanical assembly and repair. Basic troubleshooting and fault-finding experience on mechanical and electrical systems. Ability to use test instruments to support diagnostics and verification of component performance. Strong documentation skills with the ability to accurately record work performed and maintain technical records. Basic computer knowledge, including the ability to use a laptop for diagnostics, documentation, and work instructions. Capability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 40 pounds, standing, walking, and using tools for extended periods. Comfort working in a high-voltage test environment while following all relevant safety procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a production, manufacturing, or repair center environment. Experience in mechanical assembly, repair, and troubleshooting of industrial or transportation equipment. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a technical or industrial setting. Forklift operation experience is preferred. Experience working with overhead cranes and lifting devices for material handling. Demonstrated commitment to safety and a Zero Harm culture in previous roles. Attention to detail and quality-focused mindset when inspecting and repairing components. Work is hands-on and physically active, requiring standing, walking, and lifting up to 40 pounds. The facility operates under strict safety procedures, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and adherence to a Zero Harm culture, within a clean, organized, and process-driven workshop setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Castle, DE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
