The company has a demonstrated expertise in the management of high-volume caseloads and has grown to become one of the largest private contractors in the United States administering electronic monitoring, drug testing and jail diversion programs. We are seeking a Part-Time GPS Technician for the installation/removal of electronic monitoring equipment of offenders for the Florida Department of Corrections Work Release Center-Tallahassee. The Technician will be responsible for maintaining equipment that is ready for operational use and inspection of all the monitoring devices that have been returned upon completion of the program.
Scheduled Shift:
Monday-Friday 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Rate of Pay:
$16.00 per hour
Responsibilities and Duties :
Duties include but are not limited to those described below.
  • Provide oral presentation of Electronic Monitoring Orientation to offenders. Orientation will consist of providing them with specific instructions on how they will be expected to comply with the rules of electronic monitoring according to the Florida Department of Corrections Policies and Procedures.
  • Enroll offenders into the Electronic Monitoring Manager Software ensuring that all rules required to have actions are properly set up according to the Florida Department of Corrections Protocols and Procedures.
  • Update and input geographical zones and work schedules as directed by officers.
  • Inspect all equipment prior to installation.
  • Fit offenders with ankle bracelet, assign and activate all equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems with offenders and determine whether equipment needs to be replaced.
  • Contact offenders and officers when equipment needs to be exchanged. Arrange for offenders to come to the Work Release office where Installer will properly deactivate equipment and assign and activate new equipment.
  • At time of program completion and at random intervals inspect equipment for cracks or any signs of tampering.
  • Troubleshooting of equipment through the Electronic Monitoring Manager Software.
  • Clean and properly store equipment by close of business, every day. All equipment must be properly deactivated and allowed to make its final call prior to being cleaned, inspected and placed back on the inventory shelf or charger.
  • Provide monthly reports to Electronic Monitoring. These reports may include, but are not limited to, number of swap-outs, monthly activation numbers. Reports will be provided to Electronic Monitoring in Excel Spreadsheet Format. Training will be provided.
  • Other duties as required by the program not yet defined. Requirements
  • 2 years or more of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel Software experience.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Enthusiastic, detail oriented, self-driven and managed individual with strong organizational skills and work ethic.
  • Strong technology skills preferred.
  • Candidate will undergo a clearance process with the Florida Department of Corrections. A Drug Screen and TB Screen will also be performed. Preferred Experience (training will be provided):
  • Experience installing or replacing ankle monitoring devices (GPS ankle bracelets).
  • Knowledge of Electronic Monitoring software and equipment.
  • Experience in troubleshooting electrical components.
  • Previous experience with maintaining equipment inventory and warehouse RMA process.
  • Other hardware installation experience.
