Looking for a lifetime career? Apply today! Job Description The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an entry level Instrumentation and Controls Technician to join our team! The ideal candidate will have an Associates degree or military certificate in electronics, and possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform the following: Calibrate, test, repair, install, and assist in the construction of electronic, pneumatic, or electrical instrumentation.
Build, test, calibrate, and maintain thermocouples, recorders, meters, gauges, pressure switchers, strain gauges, differential pressure systems, etc., and associated controls.
Construct, install, troubleshoot, and maintain electromechanical and pneumatic equipment controls.
Read and interpret blueprints and circuit diagrams.
Assemble electronic systems chassis and panels from prints and/or schematic drawings.
Requires knowledge of digital/analog circuits and solid-state devices.
Cut, connect, solder, and lace wires and cables, and assist in the installation of equipment in racks and panels.
Perform preventive or corrective maintenance on electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment, including operational testing and subsequent cleaning, repairing, or replacement of relays, chassis, transmitters, displays, and other components.
Use of computer input and output (IO) hardware and software interface. Requires knowledge of basic computer software, spreadsheet, word processor, and databases.
Must be able to program signals into, calibrate, and operate test equipment and instrumentation, including high and low speed recorders, automatic data loggers, computers, waveform and signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
May require shift work or mandatory overtime to support program needs. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Associates degree or equivalent military service school(s) in electronics or related field. Preferred Skills Experience with CCTV, Radars, and Microwave systems
Network infrastructure installation knowledge utilizing both copper and fiber

Pay Range $32.78 hourly Jobs categorized as subject to a collective bargaining agreement will adhere to the pay rates, wage increases, progression schedules, and other parameters identified and negotiated in said agreements. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations.
