Based in Chicago Heights, IL, Nufarm is looking for an I&E Technician who will be responsible for installs, repairs, troubleshoots, and optimizes the operation of instrumentation and electrical equipment according to knowledge of equipment operation and plant specifications. What will you be doing?
  • Troubleshoot and make corrections to all instruments (level devices, flow control, automation, variable speed drives, communications card and/or devices, robots, counters, pH detection, temperature transmitters, etc.)
  • Bench test instruments for accuracy and operation effectiveness.
  • Make necessary corrections in set points to accommodate Operations in completing formulation batches.
  • Install and assist in design applications requiring instruments.
  • Conduct PLC controlled safety interlock testing.
  • Order approved replacement parts for self and other mechanics.
  • Keep accurate data, manuals and repair logs on all instruments.
  • Install and troubleshoot: o PLC-controlled automated systems (including actuated valves, pumps, flowmeters, scales, and associated interlocks and safety systems) o 3-phase and 1-phase equipment (including pumps, agitators, lighting, motor starters, VFD's, packaging machinery, air compressors, and HVAC equipment) o Plant Install conduit, wiring, and controls for 3-phase and 1-phase equipment.
o Instrumentation (such as flowmeters, level meters, flow switches, temperature transmitters, and pressure transmitters) o new equipment or modify existing installations, following blueprints and technical advice of engineers or project managers.
  • Install, repair, and optimize the operation of packaging machinery and equipment, such as liquid bottle fillers, bottle cappers, ink-jet coders, pelletizers, case erectors, conveyors, and other packaging line equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on packaging equipment and instrumentation.
  • Perform some pipefitting, pump seal repair, air pump repair, and general maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Perform building and grounds maintenance including lighting, HVAC, masonry, and plumbing tasks as needed.
  • Perform housekeeping activities including painting tasks as needed.
  • May be trained to be part of a confined space entry team.
  • Direct helpers in performing tasks, such as dismantling and assembling equipment.
  • Have the following electrical skills: o 3-phase motors and controls o Bending conduit and pulling wire o Knowledge of instrumentation o Knowledge of flow switches o Level meters o Pressure switches o Knowledge of robotics o PLC controls and automation What do you bring?

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years related experience and training along with an Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of computer process programming Ladder logics, knowledge of milliamp signals and data logging systems. What do we offer?
