Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on Automation Technician to support and improve robotic automation systems within our plastic injection molding operation. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in robotics, automation, CAD design, and 3D printing in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate enjoys problem-solving, working with automation equipment, and building practical solutions. Entry-level candidates with robotics, mechatronics, industrial maintenance, or automation training are encouraged to apply. Location This position is onsite in Elgin, Illinois. Candidates must be able to reliably commute or relocate on their own. Relocation assistance is not provided for this position. Pay Range Entry-level candidates start at $24.00 per hour. Candidates with related automation, robotics, manufacturing, or troubleshooting experience may qualify for $25.00 - $27.00 per hour based on experience and skill level. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, self-motivated, and eager to learn. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work with robotics, automation, CAD design, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Program, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial robots and automation systems Design, build, and maintain end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) Use SolidWorks to create and modify tooling and automation components Utilize 3D printing for prototyping and production tooling solutions Troubleshoot pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, and automation issues Support preventive maintenance activities and minimize downtime Improve automation reliability, cycle times, and overall process efficiency Follow safe work practices and support continuous improvement initiatives Qualifications Hands-on experience through school, internships, projects, or work with robotics, automation, CAD, or manufacturing equipment preferred Experience with SolidWorks CAD software preferred Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings Familiarity with pneumatics, sensors, vacuum systems, and automation controls preferred Strong communication and teamwork skills Preferred Experience Industrial robotics or automation experience EOAT design or fabrication experience PLC or HMI familiarity Experience with 3D printers Injection molding or manufacturing experience is a plus Education or training in Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field Benefits Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications Growth opportunities within automation and engineering Hands-on experience with robotics, CAD, and additive manufacturing Team-oriented manufacturing environment Opportunity to build real-world automation and troubleshooting experience
