Job Description

Job Summary Under direct supervision of the Instrument Maintenance Supervisor, performs work requiring an intermediate grade of skill in the installation, inspection, repair, adjustment and servicing of electronic and pneumatic instruments. Performs related work as required. Because the Authority has a primary responsibility to serve the public 24 hours a day an employee in this class is expected to work overtime as conditions demand, and may be required to accept overtime on short notice during emergency or unusual conditions and to perform essential work as assigned. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Installs, inspects, calibrates and repairs a variety of instruments such as recorders, regulators, chlorination equipment, pressure gauges and controls. Analyzes and diagnoses faults in operation of all types of instruments and control equipment. Sets up test instruments and equipment; operates machinery in repairing instruments or controls. Must be able and certified to operates forklift, man lift, scissor lift. Facilitate Preventive, Predictive, and corrective maintenance measures. Must be able to write field reports, and fill out associated work orders and documentation. Will be required to troubleshoot field equipment and procure parts and materials from the warehouse. Assist in troubleshoot the Mark 5 and 6e control equipment and various control systems within the power plant. Maintains and repairs all instrumentation on heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), fuel fire boilers and accessories, diesel engines, steam turbines, generators, Gas Turbines, Reciprocating Internal Combustion and similar equipment (RICE). Prepares and maintains records; maintains equipment, tools and work area in a clean and orderly manner. Takes ORSAT and other analytical tests. Troubleshoots and repairs electronic control loops and circuits and systems related to water, steam, diesel and liquid propane fuel (LPG). Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of the tools and equipment and their use as required in the work. Knowledge of safety rules and procedures applicable to the work. Ability to read, interpret and work from basic blueprints and specifications. Ability to use a variety of tools and testing equipment used in the work. Ability to work from moderately high distances observing all safety rules and precautions; skill in the use of equipment and tools used in the repair work. Ability to operate and utilize personal computers and related peripherals. Education & Experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, including or supplemented by courses in physics or the electrical trades and two years of experience in maintenance, repair and calibration of pneumatic, electrical and mechanical instruments and remote control equipment.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Virgin Islands Driver's License. Must possess a valid TWIC card or be eligible to obtain one.
