Within 50 miles of Lexington, KY Job Summary fyberLogic LLC is hiring local Fiber Optic Technicians to support fiber splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and cable placement work in the Lexington, KY area. This role is intended for experienced fiber hands who understand the difference between simply getting cable in the ground or in the air and actually building a clean, testable, reliable fiber network. Work may include OSP fiber placement, underground and aerial cable installation support, fiber preparation, fusion splicing, enclosure work, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and repair. We are looking for people who can work safely, show up consistently, take pride in clean workmanship, and communicate clearly with field leadership, customers, and other crew members. This is a local position. Company-paid lodging and travel per diem are not included for this role. Responsibilities Perform fiber optic splicing, cable preparation, enclosure setup, tray organization, and fiber management. Complete fusion splicing of new construction, repair, maintenance, and customer-related fiber assignments. Assist with aerial and underground fiber cable placement, including pulling, blowing, jetting, lashing, routing, securing, and dressing fiber cable where applicable. Support installation and placement of fiber cable through conduit, innerduct, handholes, vaults, splice points, building entrances, and customer premise locations. Read and interpret construction prints, fiber assignment sheets, splice matrices, cut sheets, maps, KMZ files, and basic OSP/ISP drawings. Perform or assist with OTDR testing, insertion loss testing, continuity testing, light-level verification, and basic troubleshooting. Identify bad splices, damaged fiber, poor cable handling, excessive bend radius, labeling issues, damaged facilities, and other quality concerns. Build and maintain clean splice enclosures, slack storage, fiber trays, and handhole/vault organization. Document completed work, test results, redlines, splice records, photos, production quantities, and field conditions. Coordinate with crew leads, project managers, engineers, inspectors, and customer representatives as needed. Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, materials, and assigned work areas in a clean and professional condition. Follow all company safety requirements, site-specific safety rules, traffic control requirements, PPE requirements, and customer procedures. Required Qualifications 1+ year of hands-on fiber optic construction, splicing, placing, testing, low-voltage, telecom, utility, or related field experience. Working knowledge of fiber optic cable handling, bend radius, cable prep, labeling, slack storage, and connector care. Ability to work outdoors in active construction environments and changing weather conditions. Ability to read basic construction drawings, splice sheets, maps, or work orders. Ability to use hand tools and fiber-related tools safely and properly. Strong attention to detail and pride in clean workmanship. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites in the Lexington / Central Kentucky area. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, walk active job sites, work around handholes/vaults, and stand for extended periods. Ability to pass customer or project access requirements, which may include background screening, drug screening, safety orientation, or site-specific onboarding. Preferred Qualifications Fusion splicing experience. Experience with OTDR testing, light source and power meter testing, VFL use, and fiber troubleshooting. Experience placing aerial fiber, underground fiber, drop fiber, backbone fiber, or high-count fiber cable. Experience working around handholes, vaults, manholes, conduit systems, innerduct, splice cases, NIDs, FDPs, FDHs, or fiber distribution panels. Experience with bucket trucks, ladders, reel trailers, cable trailers, fiber jetting/blowing equipment, or cable pulling equipment. Familiarity with OSP construction, ISP cabling, FTTH, middle-mile, enterprise fiber, utility fiber, or broadband deployment. Ability to complete accurate redlines, splice records, test documentation, and photo documentation. OSHA 10, first aid/CPR, bucket truck, traffic control, or fiber optic certifications are a plus. Schedule Full-time Monday to Friday Overtime may be available Weekend work may be required based on project needs Schedule may vary based on customer outages, restoration work, construction deadlines, weather, and project requirements Work Environment This is a field-based role supporting fiber construction and maintenance work in Lexington and the surrounding Central Kentucky area. Work may occur in residential, commercial, utility, roadway, aerial, underground, and customer premise environments. Conditions may include outdoor weather, active construction zones, traffic control areas, handholes, vaults, ladders, bucket truck work, cable trailers, and equipment staging areas. Technicians are expected to work safely, communicate clearly, protect customer property, and maintain professional workmanship at all times.
