E&I Technician (Electrical & Instrumentation Technician)

$36.00 - $46.00/hour (commensurate with experience) About the Opportunity Our client is seeking an experienced E&I Technician to join their growing maintenance and reliability team in Louisville, KY. This position plays a critical role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving electrical, instrumentation, robotic, and automated manufacturing systems throughout the facility. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technician who enjoys solving complex electrical and automation challenges while working in a highly automated manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with PLCs, robotics, instrumentation, motor controls, and industrial electrical systems. Key Responsibilities Electrical & Instrumentation Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain industrial electrical and instrumentation systems. Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control drawings. Calibrate, loop-check, verify, and document process instrumentation including temperature, pressure, flow, and level devices. Troubleshoot and maintain VFDs, soft starters, motor controls, MCCs, sensors, and electrical distribution systems. Perform PLC installation, troubleshooting, and basic programming. Robotics & Automation Diagnose and recover robotic systems, including EOAT, vision systems, safety circuits, and peripheral equipment. Troubleshoot automated production equipment, conveyors, robotic cells, and control systems. Perform machine changeovers, adjustments, and optimization of automated equipment. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to automation and process reliability. Maintenance & Reliability Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities utilizing CMMS/eMaint systems. Inspect equipment to identify wear, failures, misalignment, and process deviations. Replace worn or defective electrical, robotic, and mechanical components. Document maintenance activities and repairs accurately. Provide technical support and expertise to production and operations teams. Safety & Compliance Follow all plant safety policies, GMPs, SOPs, and regulatory requirements. Train operators and technicians on the safe operation of robotic and automated systems. Maintain a safe work environment while working around energized equipment and automated machinery. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of five (5) years of industrial electrical and automation maintenance experience. Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and automated manufacturing systems. Working knowledge of industrial robotics such as FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Motoman, or similar platforms preferred. Strong understanding of motors, sensors, conveyors, instrumentation, and process control systems. Experience with electrical testing and calibration equipment including digital multimeters and loop calibrators. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, and instrumentation diagrams. Food manufacturing or other regulated manufacturing industry experience is a plus. Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and climb throughout the workday. Frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in confined spaces and at various heights. Ability to climb ladders and access elevated equipment. Must be able to wear required PPE in a manufacturing environment.
