One year of experience in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electronic office equipment, precision machinery, or electronic/electrical systems; OR 2. One year of experience in the installation, repair, or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software). EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every six semester hours earned from an accredited college or university in electronics or computer science will substitute for one year of the required experience. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess an appropriate Federal Communications Commission (FCC) radio-telephone license when working with marine and aviation transmitting equipment or with radar. Performs maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance operations on traffic signals, computerized signal controllers, video cameras, other signal equipment and ITS devices as required on a daily basis. Uses knowledge to troubleshoot programming issues of computerized traffic signal controllers and equipment. Assists higher level technicians in shop on callouts and projects. Performs visual inspection of computerized traffic signal equipment, checking for safety defects and making estimates of repairs to determine if repairs are feasible. Provides assistance on traffic signal construction projects and participates in final inspections concerning equipment and system acceptance. Assist in maintaining an inventory of parts for immediate and emergency repairs Performs programing on computerized traffic signal controllers and equipment with assistance from engineering staff. Performs data transfer of traffic signal timing databases using laptop, tablet or palm pilot. Assists in maintaining signal timing database on computer and TSI database in file cabinet. Performs service and maintenance on vehicles assigned to gang. Position-Specific Details:
