Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE
The Maintenance Analyzer Technician reports to the E&I Supervisor and performs the safe, efficient and effective execution of all Analyzer maintenance work at LION Elastomers Geismar facility. The Maintenance Analyzer Technician installs, repairs and maintains electrical and instrument analyzer equipment in accordance with manufacturer s or site specifications, using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Calibrate, troubleshoot and repair of process analyzers, various instrumentation, valves, and electrical equipment Review and develop asset strategy improvements related to preventive maintenance schedules for instrumentation and electrical equipment supporting analyzers. Develop recommendations for upgrading instrumentation and electrical equipment supporting analyzers. Collaborate with operations for knowledge sharing and to build capability within the team Support operations with the startup and shutdown of operating units Regularly perform routine Preventive Maintenance and repairs Perform root cause analyses on equipment failures and recommend necessary preventative or corrective maintenance steps to ensure reliable equipment Maintain accurate inspection and calibration reports and associated documentation Responsible for reaching out to third-party vendors for parts and service Understand Piping and Instrument Diagrams, Signal Flow Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Panel Drawings, One Line Drawings, Loop Sheets, and Wire Lists Perform all duties in manner consistent with environmental, health and safety policies Measure, cut bend and install conduit, fittings and tubing as needed to install or repair equipment. Lock, tag, try and test energy sources to make equipment inoperable and safe to work on. Communicate with other employees using hand-held radios, telephones, e-mail, etc. to perform jobs efficiently.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Associate degree, equivalent military training, acceptable apprenticeship program in the field of electrical and instrumentation and/or acceptable work experience.
Related Experience :
At least five years of experience with the following background: Experience/Knowledge GC Analyzers systems. Significant knowledge and experience troubleshooting Analyzer systems in the Chemical industry. Working knowledge of a wide variety of instrument/electrical test equipment including significant experience with calibration and troubleshooting. Experienced with instrumentation and controls including field transmitter setup and calibration of both wired and wireless systems. Experience with computer networking, digital communications, and other specialized functional electronics preferred.
Special Training or Competencies :
SPECIAL REMARKS/CHALLENGES
Candidates must be willing to participate in an on-call program with some overtime as required. Must be attentive to detail and have excellent organization and communication skills. The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment when working in designated areas. This may include FR, hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, or other equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done. Other physical requirements for this position include: Be capable of twisting, bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching motions to perform functions of the job, when required. Exposure to various temperature extremes as dictated by local climate. Exposure to loud noise levels created by running equipment in the process areas. May require standing for long periods of time while testing. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. at times, but not routinely.
