Job Title:
Calibration Technician Job Description This role focuses on calibrating, testing, and validating handheld analytical testing devices used to identify compounds, minerals, and elements in a wide range of environments. You will work in a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing setting, contributing to the accuracy and reliability of advanced portable instrumentation. The position offers the opportunity to work at a dedicated workstation while collaborating closely with a small team on second shift and a larger group on first shift. Responsibilities Calibrate handheld analytical testing devices to ensure accurate measurement of compounds, minerals, and elements. Perform functional testing and validation of portable analytical instruments according to established procedures. Use test equipment and instrumentation to verify device performance and document results accurately. Troubleshoot devices and identify issues related to calibration, performance, or mechanical and electronic components. Assemble and disassemble device components as needed for calibration, testing, repair, or quality checks. Conduct quality control checks to confirm devices meet required specifications and standards. Use hand tools and basic mechanical techniques to adjust, repair, or replace parts on analytical devices. Work with production and assembly technicians to resolve issues and support continuous improvement in device performance. Record and track test, calibration, and validation data using basic Excel functions and internal systems. Follow written procedures, work instructions, and safety guidelines while working in a clean manufacturing environment. Collaborate with a small second-shift team and broader first-shift team to meet production and quality targets. Participate in orientation and training on first shift prior to transitioning to second shift operations. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with calibration of equipment or instrumentation. Demonstrated ability to perform testing and validation of devices or systems. Familiarity with test equipment and basic instrumentation concepts. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, components, and assemblies. Experience with basic assembly work in a production, manufacturing, or electronics environment. Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical or electronic issues on devices. Experience performing quality control checks in a manufacturing or technical setting. Proficiency using hand tools safely and effectively. Basic Excel familiarity to record and organize test and calibration data. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in calibration and testing tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with handheld or portable analytical devices is beneficial. Background in electronics assembly, repair, or production is an advantage. Prior experience in a clean manufacturing environment is helpful. Comfort working both independently at a dedicated workstation and collaboratively within a small team. Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn new technologies and processes. Ability to adapt to a growing shift and evolving production needs. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a clean manufacturing environment where you will primarily work at your own dedicated workstation, with opportunities to collaborate in group settings as needed. You will be part of a small second-shift team working alongside assembly technicians, as well as a larger first-shift team of approximately 25 people. All new hires attend first shift for orientation and training before transitioning to second shift. The standard schedule includes a 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. shift, Monday through Friday, with work centered around advanced handheld analytical devices, test equipment, and standard hand tools in a high-tech production setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Andover, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
