Calibration Technician Job Description The Calibration Technician works in a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment to calibrate, test, and validate handheld analytical testing devices. These portable instruments accurately identify compounds, minerals, and elements in a variety of settings. The role combines hands-on mechanical work, troubleshooting, and quality control to ensure each device meets strict performance and reliability standards. Responsibilities Calibrate handheld analytical testing devices to ensure accurate identification of compounds, minerals, and elements. Perform detailed testing and validation procedures on devices to verify proper functionality and adherence to specifications. Use test equipment, instrumentation, and hand tools to perform measurements, adjustments, and repairs as needed. Troubleshoot mechanical and electronic issues on devices and perform corrective actions to restore proper operation. Assemble and disassemble device components as required for calibration, testing, validation, and repair activities. Conduct quality control checks throughout the production and calibration process to maintain high product standards. Document test results, calibration data, and validation outcomes using spreadsheets and basic Excel functions. Collaborate with a small team of assembly technicians and other calibration staff to meet production and quality goals. Maintain a clean, organized workstation and follow all procedures for working in a clean manufacturing environment. Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying issues, suggesting improvements, and helping to refine processes. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with calibration of instruments, devices, or equipment. Proficiency in testing and validation of products, components, or systems. Ability to use test equipment and instrumentation for measurement and troubleshooting. Mechanical aptitude and strong mechanical ability for working with small parts and assemblies. Experience with assembly work in a production or manufacturing environment. Familiarity with quality control practices and procedures in a manufacturing setting. Skill in using hand tools safely and effectively for assembly, adjustment, and repair. Basic electronics knowledge sufficient to support troubleshooting and repair of electronic devices. Ability to perform troubleshooting to identify root causes of equipment or device issues. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel for recording and tracking test, calibration, and validation data. Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience working with handheld analytical or measurement devices. Production, electronics repair, or related technical fields. Experience in validation processes within manufacturing or laboratory environments. Demonstrated ability to work both independently at a personal workstation and collaboratively in a team setting. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate and reliable results. Work Environment The role is based in a clean manufacturing environment that supports both individual focus and collaborative work. You primarily work at your own dedicated workstation, while also engaging with a small team of approximately three people on second shift and a larger group of about twenty-five on first shift. All new team members start on first shift for orientation and training before transitioning to second shift. The standard shift schedule runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The environment is high-tech and production-focused, with regular use of test equipment, instrumentation, and hand tools, and emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to established procedures Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Andover, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
