Summary:
A Laboratory Equipment Specialist performs and documents pre-run preparation, daily maintenances, and post run cleanup, to keep an instrument in service and at the ready on research and manufacturing equipment at pharmaceutical facilities. This includes preventative maintenance, calibration, and validation of equipment ranging from devices such as microscopes, flow cytometers and fluidics, liquid handlers, bioreactors, cell counters, osmometers and pH meters, scales/ balances, centrifuges, (HPLC/UPLC), and fast protein liquid chromatography, or equivalent instruments) What you will do: Performs planned maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and other verification/qualification services on a variety of laboratory multi-vendor instruments Complete scheduled pre-run methods and prep Execute post run clean up, system flushes Flag, troubleshoot, or escalate any errors or predictive maintenances or repairs Manages customer relationships by communicating work performed and providing a follow-up plan as needed Provides accurate and timely completion of service reports, expense reports and other administrative tasks Communicates and escalate repair diagnostic and information with supervisor and other internal personnel to expedite repairs Provides a communication link between the customer and supervisor to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer Ensures customer satisfaction by advising customers on preventive maintenance and configurations, which may impact product performance Trains and/or mentors Scientific Service Specialist colleagues on maintenance of devices under our responsibility Performs other duties as assigned by your manager Collaborates with internal partners to resolve customer issues and improve processes
Qualifications:
Experience operating laboratory equipment required 1-3 years' experience with life science laboratory equipment (e.g. Microscopes, flow cytometers and fluidics, liquid handlers, bioreactors, cell counters, osmometers and pH meters, scales/ balances, centrifuges, freezers/LN2 storage units/refrigerators, incubators, and humidity chambers, (HPLC/UPLC), and fast protein liquid chromatography, or equivalent instruments) Experience reading and following work instructions to operate lab equipment Laboratory, electronic, mechanical technician or related experience required Understanding of metrology/calibration preferred Comfortable with technical skills in MS Office suite (MS Word, MS Excel) High level attention to detail Self-directed / efficient with time management skills Basic hands-on mechanical skills
Education/Special Training:
H.S. Diploma or equivalent required Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering or related degree preferred

Safety Requirements:
Abide and follow our Injury & Illness Prevention Program Maintain a safe working environment for self and others if they come in contact within the laboratory area in accordance with the facility's policies Must follow OSHA guidelines in regard to blood borne pathogens, airborne pathogens, radiation, sharp instruments and/or tools, hazardous liquids, and operating devices On-time completion of safety trainings assignments
Physical Requirements:
The Scientific Services Specialist must be able to speak, hear, see, read, write, type, dial, reach, bend, climb, crawl, crouch, kneel, squat, and twist Must have near vision, far vision, depth perception, and be able to distinguish colors Must have sensory ability to distinguish hot, cold, range of temperatures, surfaces, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and detect/distinguish odors Must be able to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials Must be able to carry or lift up to 50 pounds frequently
