Installs, tests, repairs, overhauls, fabrices or modifies, calibres, troubleshoots and certifies highly complex electronic systems components or subassemblies. Installs and tests highly complex electronics equipment. Performs functional tests to loce equipment malfunctions in accordance with accepted trade practices to minimize equipment downtime. Diagnoses malfunctions of systems by thoroughly analyzing opering trends and ensuring repairs are accomplished. Independently troubleshoots highly complex electronic equipment to accurely determine the nure of the problem and the extent of repair required. Troubleshoots and tests complete electronic systems by following prescribed procedures to accurely identify improper opering parameters and defective parts, and in monitoring system operion and identifying improper opering indicions. Independently determines work methods and test equipment to use on routine assignments compible with specific technical instructions and within established timeframes. Calibres and repairs complex electronic equipment ensuring the equipment is aligned to maximize opering potential and minimize downtime. Certifies completed work and prepares all necessary paperwork required to document maintenance actions taken. May provide advice and/or technical assistance to supported organizions and lower graded workers.(60%) 2. Sets up Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) and uses this equipment to ensure operional accuracy by performing intrice and complex laborory and/or on site calibrions and repairs of electronic systems. Uses electronic measuring equipment ranging in complexity from multimeters to complex software-controlled automic test equipment. Included are items such as special test panels, test sets, and consoles (consisting of analog or digital computers, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, frequency/time/phase standards, frequency counters, spectrum analyzers, digital or chode ray tube display devices, and tenuion and power measuring devices); light, radiion, and infrared measuring devices; reguled power supplies; da display units; pulse, sweep, marker and function generors; and other special purpose test panels/equipment used in conjunction with the repair, test and troubleshooting of assigned integred systems. Sets up and uses dimensional measuring devices involved in linear, optical, force, mass, and pressure measurements using such items as but not limited to gage blocks, micrometers, calipers, sineples, analog or digital electronic height gages, analytical balances, hydraulic calibrion presses, autocollimors, theodolites, pentaprisms, air da computers, and flow measuring standards.(20%) 3. Uses and maintains tools and equipment. Uses trade tools such as wire strippers, drills, files, dremel tools, soldering irons, and microsoldering units to remove and replace parts. Uses various precision measurement standards and instruments such as generors, oscilloscopes, meters, and analyzers to perform inspections, functional testing, and calibrion of TMDE.(10%) 4. Maintains records and documents actions. Prepares all certificion paperwork required and documents work assignments using PMEL Automed Maintenance System (PAMS) computer.(5%) 5. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulions and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Uses and assures proper fit and placement of required safety equipment and clothing. Performs clean-up duties such as cleaning equipment, sweeping, and returning of equipment to proper locions when not in use. Maintains awareness of lab safety procedures and identifies any observed unsafe practices and/or procedures.(5%) Performs other duties as assigned. GENERAL EXPERIENCE
: Must have experience or training which demonstres a working knowledge of electronic principles involved in the generion and measurement of such elements as voltage, current, impedance, capacitance, frequency, and inductance. Experience in the use of various precision measurement instruments and standards.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: Must have least 18 months experience or training with basic applicion of opering principles such as the production and utilizion of oscillions over a broad range of frequencies; signal and waveform behavior, distortion, and amplificion; pulse, trigger, and synchronizion techniques; digital/analog processing and da conversion techniques; and a variety of display and indicion methods. Experience in tracing signals and voltage phs, and skilled in the analysis of waveform characteristics such as timing, durion, frequency, and phasing. Origines test set-ups to isole malfunctions and check performance characteristics of special or unique test panels or mockups. Experience in interpreting and applying a variety of technical electronic informion such as schemic symbols, mhemical expressions and formulas, calibrion procedures, and other reference merials. Experience in applying established techniques and methods of repair, testing, alignment, and calibrion of equipment, which serves as test equipment or precision measurement standards. Experience in utilizing electronic circuits to measure electronic or electrical quantities to determine the performance characteristics and accuracy of other instruments and equipment.
