Job Description
Job Description As telecom technician, you will splice and test fiber optic cables in aerial, underground, and indoor environments. Attention to detail is critical for testing locations, termination points, and general fiber optic network construction. The ideal candidate embraces the freedom and responsibility of working outside, overcoming obstacles, and being part of the hardest working team in telecom. This is a regular, full-time, non-exempt position with a salary range of $25.00 to $40.00 per hour, including overnight stays as well as on-call opportunities.
What you will do:
Perform testing with Fiber Optic related equipment including OTDR, PON, and OLTS equipment Read instructions, specifications, and blueprints to determine work activities Safely operate bucket trucks and other job site vehicles and trailers Work independently for long periods of time Complete and maintain excellent records of splice diagrams, patch panels, and test results Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the field Respond to service disruptions on 24-hour basis Work with specialized off-road equipment such as tracked and all-terrain vehiclesRequirements:
Must be 18 years or older High School diploma or equivalent 2+ years proven experience in the splicing, testing, installation, maintenance and repair of fiber optic networks and/or outside fiber plant Prior experience using telecom splicing and testing equipment (preferred) Excellent organizational and administrative skills Self-motivated team player Valid driving license and clean driving record Extensive travel in the New England region including overnight stays Background check and pre-employment drug test Why join Sertex?
