We currently have an opening for a Sr. Calibration Tech for the Vascular division. This role is located at our St. Paul, MN location. This is a fully onsite role. Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for performing calibration functions on all testing and measuring equipment throughout all manufacturing operations. This position impacts upon the accuracy of the company's measurement and process equipment, subsequent product quality, and is essential to meeting Quality Systems Requirements and other compliance requirements. The Sr. Calibration Technician performs precise calibrations per written procedures on measuring and testing equipment, tools, gauges, and fixtures as defined by the calibration schedule. On equipment that cannot be maintained internally, coordinates the calibration with a certified outside source. Maintains clear and concise records to facilitate timely problem identification, development of department procedures, and to comply with internal and external regulations. Observes and complies with all safety rules and regulations. This includes QSR and ISO Standards. Applies knowledge of technical concepts and practices, and an understanding of product or system fundamentals, from basic to complex towards the resolution of manufacturing and/or research and development tasks. Performs calibration, set-up, testing, repair, inspection, and/or maintenance of all area-specific equipment, materials, systems and or products. Troubleshoots and solves problems requiring interpretation of procedures and practices. Analyzes calibration and performance data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement. Collects, compiles, measures, record, and document accurate calibration and maintenance data in approved system. Provides input to engineering, qualifications and validation studies and reports, writes procedures and may keep lab note book. Plans, organizes, and prioritizes own daily work routine to meet established schedule and assigned tasks or projects. Communicates as a team member with other functional groups as well as with internal customers. Contact outside vendors as part of job responsibilities. Maintain calibration records, labels, and documentation to ensure data integrity, traceability, and audit readiness. (Influence/Leadership) Mentor less senior employees in work group and offer counsel. (Planning/Organization) Plans and organizes non-routine tasks w/approval. Initiates or maintains work schedule. Establishes priorities of work assignments. (Decision Making/Impact) Solves a wide range of complex problems requiring advanced interpretation of generally defined procedures and practices. Selects methods and practices to obtain imaginative, thorough, and practical solutions to questions. Understands organizational structure and positions of key employees. Maintains general knowledge of products/services associated with area and employees involved with specific product lines and services.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
Minimum Education High School Diploma / GED or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Minimum Experience / Training 4 year related experience Required Qualifications Applies extensive knowledge of advanced technical concepts and practices, and a complete understanding of product or systems fundamentals in a functional area, and working knowledge of other related disciplines. Utilizes/interprets advanced numerical and statistical data and computer software programs to present documentation and analysis and resolve complex problems. Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations. Performs complex technical assignments usually without established procedures. Assists in the design, development, evaluation or modification of all area- specific equipment, materials, systems, and/or product. May determine types of tests or develop preventative maintenance plans. Assignments require considerable judgment, initiative, creativity and leadership in troubleshooting, suggesting alternatives, and making recommendations for continuous quality improvement methods. Preferred Qualifications Experience with integrations related to acquisitions or change management, a plus. Quality Systems experience within Medical Devices, a plus. Experience with one or more of the following programs: CatsWeb, Propel, SAP, Viewpoint, a plus.
