POSITION SUMMARY
The Engineering Test Technician will provide hands on fabricating, assembling, testing, evaluating, and documenting related to light duty pick-up truck and Jeep accessory products in a research and development environment. The responsibilities within this role will involve testing a broad range of products including Bed Covers (a.k.a. Tonneau Covers), Styling Bars, Chase/Headache Racks, Step Bars, Latches and Mechanisms, and chassis components. This position will require a highly adaptable, hands-on technician who is a skilled fabricator able to quickly build and modify test fixtures to satisfy existing and new test specifications. This position will utilize skills to set-up and operate test equipment for basic function tests including load, deflection, cyclic durability, and test buck construction. In the case of testing, this position will be required to capture and document key test data. Additionally, the Engineering Technician will be required to follow the best safety practices while performing all job duties.
CORE FUNCTIONS
Setup and monitor validation tests, including fabrication of new or modifying of existing test bucks. This may include basic welding, building with 80/20 aluminum framework, light machining, basic wiring, and data acquisition. Install our products onto vehicles, and test bucks to ensure proper fitment Work hand-in-hand with Validation Engineers to ensure that tests are conducted in accordance with standard procedures, and completed on time. Analyze and evaluate data and/or systems to determine if validation criteria were met or exceeded. Employ measurement devices for length, force, torque, thermal, impact, humidity, and mass. Compile, categorize, tabulate, or verify information or data to provide detailed report summaries. Document test procedures and results in drafted detailed reports. Detect changes in circumstances, events, or alarms, and assess problems.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience Associate degree in a field related to engineering technology or a professional certification from an accredited organization is required. SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience are preferred. Experience working in a test lab environment is highly preferred. Required Licenses None Skills and Abilities Basic experience light machining, wiring. and fabrication Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to interact with a cross-functional diverse team throughout the organization and treat everyone with respect. Team mind-set yet hold self personally accountable for team results. Ability to communicate effectively with others both verbally and in writing. Ability to convey and understand comments and questions of others. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is subject to medium work; Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Activities This position is subject to the following physical activities: standing, balancing, walking, reaching, hearing, and using hands and/or fingers in repetitive motions. Visual Acuity The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
