Position Description:
We are seeking an Advanced Emissions Calibration Engineer responsible for developing and demonstrating system-level capabilities to achieve future emissions targets (SULEV20, SULEV15, and SULEV10) for gasoline-powered Internal Combustion Engines (ICE), Hybrid (HEV), and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) applications. This role bridges the gap between virtual simulation and physical validation, leading the development of calibration strategies that balance stringent regulatory compliance with core vehicle attributes like fuel economy and drivability. The ideal candidate combines high-level analytical strategy with a hands-on approach to commissioning and debugging complex prototype propulsion systems.
What You'll Do:
Support development of advanced emissions calibration strategies for ICE, HEV, and PHEV applications Deliver calibration solutions to meet SULEV20, SULEV15, and SULEV10 emissions targets Bridge virtual simulation results with physical validation testing Perform calibration tuning to balance emissions compliance, fuel economy, and drivability Conduct engine and vehicle testing in dyno environments Analyze large datasets to identify trends and validate calibration performance Support prototype builds, including wiring, setup, and troubleshooting Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system integration and testing Support regulatory compliance and emissions certification activities

Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field 5+ years of experience in powertrain calibration (gasoline emissions and/or
HEV/PHEV
systems) Proficiency with calibration tools (ATI Vision, ETAS INCA, or Vector CANape) Experience with CAN communication protocols Strong understanding of emissions regulations (SULEV20, SULEV15, SULEV10) Hands-on experience with wiring, prototype setup, and troubleshooting Experience using data acquisition (DAQ) systems Experience with engine or chassis dynamometer testing Strong data analysis experience working with large datasets
Experience Preferred:
Master's or PhD in Engineering (Thermal-Fluids, Controls, or Power Electronics) Experience with exhaust aftertreatment systems design and validation Experience with MATLAB/Simulink or DOE tools (AVL ASCMO, Model-Based Calibration Toolbox) Experience developing hybrid energy management strategies Leadership experience mentoring engineers or leading technical reviews
