Job Description

Laser Layout Technician Position Summary The Laser Layout Technician is responsible for precision measurement, alignment, and verification of tooling, fixtures, and automated equipment using laser tracking systems. This role supports the build, installation, and validation of automotive body-in-white systems, ensuring all components meet strict dimensional and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Perform 3D measurements and alignments using laser trackers (e.g., FARO, Leica) Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements Layout and verify tooling, fixtures, and automated assembly systems Support equipment installation, debugging, and production launch activities Conduct dimensional inspections and generate detailed measurement reports Collaborate with engineers, machine builders, and electricians during system integration Troubleshoot dimensional issues and recommend corrective actions Maintain calibration and proper handling of metrology equipment Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures Required Experience 2+ years of experience in laser tracking, layout inspection, or dimensional metrology in a manufacturing or automation environment Hands-on experience using laser measurement systems (FARO, Leica, or similar equipment) Experience interpreting engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T Background in automotive body-in-white, tooling, or automation systems strongly preferred Experience supporting equipment installation, alignment, or commissioning activities Familiarity with precision measurement tools and inspection processes
