Job Description:
Join a global technology leader and take your technical career to the next level. North Star Imaging (NSI) is a worldwide leader in 2D digital radiography and 3D computed tomography equipment. As part of Illinois Tool Works (ITW) , a Fortune 250 company, we combine the agility of a specialized technology business with the strength and stability of a global industrial powerhouse. We are seeking a skilled and meticulous Automation Technician to join our team. This role involves hands-on work in production, testing, and documentation of industrial X-ray systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and Automation background, with a willingness to learn specialized imaging and motion programming techniques.
What You'll Do:
Mechanical assembly of capital equipment per drawings and instructions Automation assembly per schematics Wire and cable termination to electrical and automation panels Cable routing and system power-up Troubleshooting and motion programming using PLCs and VFDs X-ray system startup and imaging testing (training provided) Preparation of equipment and systems for shipment Completion of system quality documentation and
ISO 9001
compliance Adhere to NSI's waste management and recycling policies Maintain workspace cleanliness through 5S practices Monitor and control stock inventory levels Participation in improvement projects Some travel may be required, up to 10%
What We're Looking For:
Specialized training or Associate's degree in a relevant technical field Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related technical or manufacturing role Experience in mechanical and automation assembly preferred Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, and industrial equipment a plus Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
Compensation Information:
Compensation for this position ranges from $28 to $32 an hour, based on education and experience. ITW is an equal opportunity employer.
