POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Inspector to support inspection and commissioning activities on water and wastewater treatment projects. This role is responsible for ensuring that electrical, instrumentation, and control systems are installed, tested, and documented in accordance with project specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.
Inspect and document daily contractor work for electrical and I&C systems 2. Provide detailed photo documentation of construction progress and installations 3. Verify compliance with project drawings, specifications, and approved submittals 4. Inspect installation of instrumentation for flow, level, pressure, and water quality monitoring (e.g., pH, turbidity, chlorine) 5.
Witness and document:
o Electrical testing (continuity, insulation resistance, etc.) o Loop checks and I/O testing 6. Verify installation and operation of control systems for pumps, blowers, valves, and chemical feed systems 7. Track and document RFIs, Field Orders, and Change Orders 8. Identify and report non-conforming work and support resolution with project teams 9. Support commissioning and system startup activities
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Experience a. 4+ years of relevant experience b. Independently perform inspections and testing verification c. Strong understanding of NEC and industrial electrical systems d. Experience with
PLC/SCADA
systems and field instrumentation e. Experience leading commissioning and integrated system testing f. AC/DC power and control circuits g. NEMA enclosure ratings for industrial environments h. Wire sizing, grounding, and conduit installation practices i. Control systems including PLC, SCADA, DCS, and RTUs j. Communication protocols such as HART, Modbus (TCP/RTU), EtherNet/IP, and
PROFINET
Required Skills a.
Ability to read and interpret:
o Electrical schematics and wiring diagrams o One-line diagrams o Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) o Control narratives and sequences of operation b. Ability to climb ladders and work at heights or in confined spaces c. Strong attention to detail and documentation skills d. Effective communication and coordination with contractors and project teams
WORK ENVIRONMENT 1.
Active construction sites at water/wastewater treatment plants and pump stations 2. Exposure to outdoor conditions, moisture, and industrial environments 3. Work may involve confined spaces, heights, and proximity to operating equipment 4. Strict adherence to safety protocols including PPE, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and confined space procedures
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS 1. OSHA 10
