QC Metrologist Location:
St. Louis, Missouri 63114
Schedule:
Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00
PM Pay:
$30-40/hour Position Summary We are seeking a highly skilled QC Instrument Metrologist to join our Quality Control team in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. This role will be responsible for the qualification, calibration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management of QC and manufacturing instrumentation. The ideal candidate will help ensure instrument compliance, minimize downtime, maintain data integrity, and support efficient laboratory operations. Key Responsibilities Coordinate and oversee day-to-day QC instrumentation activities including calibration scheduling, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting Ensure QC and manufacturing instruments are qualified, calibrated, and maintained in accordance with SOPs, GMP requirements, and regulatory standards Perform calibration and preventative maintenance on: pH Meters Moisture Analyzers Balances/Scales Particle Size Analyzers FTIR Magnet Pull Testing equipment Lead and support instrument lifecycle activities including
IQ/OQ/PQ
qualification, requalification, and decommissioning Serve as the primary liaison with instrument vendors for repairs, service, and qualification support Maintain instrument documentation including calibration records, maintenance logs, usage records, and deviation documentation Lead or support investigations related to equipment failures, OOS results, and data integrity concerns tied to instrument performance Support quality systems activities including deviations, CAPAs, change controls, and corrective actions related to instrumentation Train and mentor QC analysts on proper instrument operation, troubleshooting, and care Participate in internal audits and regulatory inspections by providing instrument-related documentation and technical support Collaborate with IT and validation teams on computerized system validation and data integrity initiatives Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities related to instrumentation reliability and laboratory workflow Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering, or related scientific discipline Minimum 5 years of laboratory experience with at least 3 years focused on instrumentation support, calibration, or metrology Strong hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation including Particle Size Analyzers, FTIR, Karl Fischer, Moisture Analyzers, and pH Meters Working knowledge of GMP regulations, 21 CFR Part 11, USP , and data integrity requirements Experience supporting instrument qualification protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ) and validation activities Familiarity with quality systems including deviations, CAPAs, and change controls Strong organizational, communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotech, or cGMP manufacturing environments Experience working with computerized laboratory systems and validation activities Strong understanding of preventative maintenance and instrument lifecycle management INDBH
