Full Job Description Duties:
  • Inspect, test, adjust, and repair electrical circuits, electronics, mechanical and pneumatic instruments that indicate, record, and control power plant operations.
  • Test accuracy of flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, and other recording, indicating or controlling instruments to locate defective components in a system by using test equipment such as: pressure gauges, mercury manometers, potentiometers, oscilloscopes, transistor curve tracers, ampmeters, voltmeters, and wattmeters.
  • Trace out and test electronic solid state circuitry and components to locate defective parts in both analog and digital protection and radiation monitoring systems.
  • Remove defective instruments from system, disassemble and clean instruments, and replace defective parts. Reassemble instruments and place back into service. Lubricate instruments and replace defective wiring and tubing.
  • Calibrate readings of instruments according to standards, adjust phasing, and align stages to ensure accuracy of recording and indicating function. Record calibrations made, parts and components used, and inventory of parts on hand.
  • Prepare schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments, circuits, and systems.
  • Maintain electrical equipment such as generators and lighting systems.
  • Ability to follow blueprint drawings and specifications to ensure proper equipment installation, abide by all plant operating procedures.
  • Read and understand P&ID's vendor instructions, perform maintenance duties as directed by plant maintenance orders..
  • Proficient in conduit (piping and tubing) installing, bending, anchoring, and installing wiring in the conduit inside partition walls or other concealed areas. Complete circuits between outlets and switches, and pull insulated wires through conduits. Connect wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components. Test circuits for proper connections.
  • Maintain lighting systems, transformers, generators, and other electrical equipment in good working order.
  • Responsible for electrical and instrumentation integrity of the plant, and for diagnosing and solving plant problems.
  • Other responsibilities include ordering parts, maintaining inventory needs, and interfacing with vendors.
  • Proficient in computer usage and in-house computer networking.
  • In addition to electrical, instrumentation, and controls requirement the E&I Technician I should be familiar with the operation of the boilers, turbine, and other plant equipment.
Technicians will be required to interface with Mechanical Technicians and Plant Operators.
Skills:
  • Must possess high degree of mechanical and process control aptitude
  • Must be able to use algebra, geometry and other math skills
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, draw conclusions, interpret instruction and use logic to solve problems, to communicate using technical written and spoken
