Job Description

Field Service Technician — Installation, Service & Repair Mountain Leisure Living
  • Arden (Asheville), NC
  • Full-Time
  • $22
  • 28/hr We are not looking for a parts-swapper or a delivery driver.
We are looking for a complete field professional — someone who can install a hot tub in the morning, walk the customer through it at delivery, and diagnose a control board failure in the afternoon. Technical skills get you the interview. Humility, reliability, and coachability get you the job.
ABOUT US
Mountain Leisure Living has served Western North Carolina for 30 years. We sell, install, and service hot tubs, swim spas, saunas, cold plunges, and pool tables across multiple brands — and we back every product with experienced, dependable support. We are growing, and we need a field technician who can do it all and take pride in every part of it.
THE ROLE
This is one comprehensive role — not two jobs stitched together. On any given day you may be delivering and installing a new swim spa, performing a new owner orientation so a customer leaves confident, then driving across town to evaluate a heater failure on a 10-year-old hot tub. You move fluidly between installation and service because you understand equipment well enough to do both at a high level. You work independently in customer homes and properties throughout Asheville and Western NC. You represent MLL in the field — which means your professionalism, your communication, and the quality of your work all carry our 30-year name with them.
WHAT YOU'LL DO INSTALLATION & SETUP
Deliver and place hot tubs, swim spas, saunas, and cold plunges at customer sites Handle equipment movement on variable terrain — mountain properties are common Connect and commission new equipment to manufacturer spec Perform thorough new owner orientations — operation, water care, maintenance basics Leave the customer fully confident and the job site clean
DIAGNOSTICS & REPAIR
Diagnose and repair hot tubs and spas across multiple brands Use a volt meter as a primary diagnostic tool — test circuits, trace faults, identify failures Read wiring diagrams and schematics to find root cause — not guess through it Repair pumps, heaters, control boards, plumbing, jets, and related components Perform water chemistry services on recurring maintenance accounts Complete detailed, accurate field documentation on every job — installations, orientations, and service calls Communicate findings and outcomes clearly to customers in plain language Coordinate with the service team on parts needs, scheduling, and unresolved issues
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Three words: hungry, humble, smart. Hungry — you want to keep getting better. You ask questions. You don't coast. Humble — you're coachable. You take feedback without drama. You don't need to be the smartest person on the job site. Smart — you think before you act. You diagnose systematically. You figure things out and follow through. You also need to bring real skills.
We will verify these:
Proven volt meter proficiency — daily use, confident interpretation Wiring diagram and schematic reading — follow the circuit, find the fault Strong mechanical aptitude — pumps, motors, plumbing, heating, control systems Experience with hot tub/spa installation or service, pool, HVAC, appliance repair, or a comparable electrical/mechanical trade Comfortable operating and maneuvering vehicles used to haul large equipment Physical capability for demanding, hands-on work outdoors and on challenging terrain Customer-facing professionalism — calm, clear, and trustworthy in someone's home Valid driver's license and clean driving record Stable, verifiable work history — references will be checked
THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT FIT IF
YOU... Prefer to do only one type of work and resist doing the other Need to be the smartest person on the job — or act like it Resist feedback, coaching, or documented standards Have a pattern of short tenures without good reason We check references. We hold daily performance standards. We invest heavily in the right people and part ways clearly with those who aren't a fit. We'd rather tell you that up front.
WHAT WE OFFER
$22
  • 28/hour based on verified experience — top of range for the right person Company vehicle for all field routes (During Work Hours)) Tool allowance Paid manufacturer training and technical certifications — we invest in your growth Paid time off and vacation 401(k) retirement plan A stable, family-owned company with 30 years of roots in WNC — not a franchise, not a startup A team that holds a high standard — which means the people next to you are worth working beside
