Pay from $36.84 per hour to $42.30 per hour (commensurate with experience)

Elektrisola Incorporated, the world's leading producer of fine and ultrafine enameled copper wire has an opportunity for a full-time Automation Technician to join our dynamic team.
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for designing, programming, commissioning, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial automation and control systems. This done within an industrial manufacturing environment. They ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of advanced high-speed, computer-controlled production equipment. This is achieved by developing and supporting PLC logic, HMI and SCADA systems, drives, motion control, and data acquisition platforms. This often requires interpretation of electrical schematics, control drawings, network architectures, and system specifications in order to integrate new equipment, diagnose complex system interactions, and support long-term equipment reliability and data integrity. Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, program, modify, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems for production machinery and auxiliary equipment.
- Commission new machines and peripheral systems, including hardware checkout, I/O verification, safety validation, and functional testing.
- Develop, modify, and maintain HMI and SCADA applications, including screen development, alarms, trends, and data logging.
- Configure, replace, and troubleshoot VFDs, servo drives, motors, and motion-control systems.
- Administer, configure, and maintain data acquisition systems, including OPC-based and non-OPC-based architectures, historians, and data pipelines.
- Support and maintain industrial control networks and communication systems between PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and enterprise-level systems.
- Troubleshoot complex automation issues involving PLC logic, instrumentation, drives, networks, mechanical systems, and process conditions.
- Generate, edit, and maintain complete electrical control schematics and system documentation.
- Coordinate with I&C Technicians on instrumentation, calibration activities, and signal integrity verification.
- Document system changes, troubleshooting actions, and corrective measures in accordance with company standards and CMMS requirements.
- Participate in equipment upgrades, retrofits, commissioning activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work safely around operating equipment and from man-lifts when required.
- Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), proper PPE usage, and electrical safety practices. Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of industrial automation and control system design.
- Proficiency with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
- Experience with HMI and SCADA system development and support.
- Working knowledge of VFDs, servo drives, motors, and motion-control systems.
- Understanding of industrial communication networks and data acquisition systems.
- Ability to diagnose complex, multi-discipline system faults and identify root causes.
- Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with maintenance, engineering, and production teams.
- Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and disciplined change management.
Qualifications:
- Technical degree in automation, electrical, electronics, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Minimum of two years' experience in an industrial automation or controls role.
- Experience commissioning and supporting PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment preferred.
- Experience with Rockwell, AutomationDirect Productivity/CLICK, or similar platforms preferred.
- Must pass pre-employment physical and background check. Work Expectations
- Mandatory participation during scheduled shutdowns.
- Ability to work a rotating Saturday schedule once the training period has been completed (3-5 Saturdays per year).
- Must wear ASTM F2413-compliant safety footwear (annual reimbursement provided).
- Use of proper PPE.
