Description:
Description Shipboard Electrical Engineering Technician:
Supporting the US Navy with shipboard electrical installations and troubleshooting while maintaining reports of work done and action items found. This position requires an active security clearance.
LOCATION
Work is located at various San Diego shipyards. Must be located within reasonable driving distance to downtown San Diego/Naval Base San Diego. Travel to other Navy homeports and shipyards expected. EHS has in house support staff for planning travel. Requirements:
Shipboard Electrical Engineering Technician Specific duties include: Provide electrical installation support for Interior Communications (IC) and network systems on board US Navy ships. Provide troubleshooting of IC and network systems on board US Navy ships. Provide details reporting of work completed and issues found during work.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or Trade School Diploma (related military experience can qualify as education)
Clearance:
Active DoD Secret Clearance Shipboard Electrical Engineering Technician Required Experience:
One (1) year of experience on board US Navy ships working as an electrical technician and installer. Electrical Connector Certified. Familiar with shipboard fiber optics and
MIL-STD-2042
requirements. Familiar with discrete, analog synchro, RS-422 serial, and Ethernet interfaces. Knowledge of US Navy surface ship maintenance and repair manuals (JFMM, GSO, EPISM, NIMB, NAVSEA Standard Items) and reporting procedures. Familiar with reading NAVSEA Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs) Familiar with writing status reports and using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) Can accomplish tasking and maintain regular attendance without oversight.
