In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the installation, porting, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic infrastructure in a commercial environment. This is an excellent opportunity for technicians with hands-on fiber experience who are looking to work on high-profile telecommunications and network infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, a commitment to quality workmanship, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Duties Port, test, troubleshoot, and certify fiber optic cabling systems in commercial environments. Perform fiber optic terminations, connector installations, and patch panel management. Utilize fiber testing equipment including OTDRs, light source and power meters, and continuity testers to verify network performance. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, fiber routing diagrams, and project documentation. Install, route, label, and organize fiber optic and low voltage cabling according to industry standards. Troubleshoot connectivity issues and identify faults within fiber infrastructure. Document testing results, cable labeling, and project progress accurately. Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all job site safety procedures. Collaborate with project managers, lead technicians, and customer representatives to ensure successful project completion. Assist with additional structured cabling tasks as needed. Skills Experience porting, testing, troubleshooting, and certifying fiber optic networks. Knowledge of fiber optic cabling standards, patch panels, enclosures, and fiber distribution systems. Ability to operate OTDRs, fiber power meters, light sources, and other fiber testing equipment. Familiarity with structured cabling systems including Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic infrastructure. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and network diagrams. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Experience working in commercial, telecommunications, data center, or enterprise environments preferred. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and cable installation equipment safely and effectively. Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. OSHA 10 certification is preferred.
