Position Summary Terra Contracting is seeking an experienced Fiber Optic Troubleshooter / Splicer to join our telecommunications division. This position is responsible for diagnosing fiber network issues, performing advanced testing, identifying faults, and working with field crews to restore network performance and connectivity. The ideal candidate has strong experience with fiber optic troubleshooting, OTDR testing, fusion splicing, and network restoration in both new construction and maintenance environments. Responsibilities Perform advanced fiber optic troubleshooting and diagnostics. Utilize OTDRs, power meters, light sources, and other testing equipment to identify network issues. Locate fiber breaks, signal degradation, excessive loss, damaged connectors, and network faults. Interpret OTDR traces and testing results to determine root causes of service interruptions. Perform fusion splicing and assist with network restoration activities. Work closely with construction, splicing, and maintenance crews to resolve fiber-related issues. Verify network integrity and ensure signal levels meet customer and industry specifications. Document testing results, repairs, and corrective actions. Maintain compliance with company safety standards and industry best practices. Support emergency restoration efforts when required. QualificationsRequired Minimum 3 years of fiber optic splicing and troubleshooting experience. Experience operating OTDRs, power meters, light sources, and related fiber testing equipment. Ability to read and interpret fiber network documentation and test results. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and documentation abilities. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Preferred FOA Fiber Optic Technician Certification or equivalent. OSHA 10 Certification. Experience in underground utility construction. Experience with telecommunications network maintenance and restoration.
