Full-time Key Responsibilities:
The control systems technician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment, automation and electro/mechanical systems. This role requires strong hands-on experience with industrial electrical systems, PLC programming/troubleshooting, drives, sensors, control panels, calibrations and instrumentation in various environments. The technician will work closely with customer production, maintenance, and engineering teams to diagnose issues, implement repair and maintain high equipment availability. Technicians must be able to work overtime, long shifts and respond to emergency call outs 24/7.
Qualifications & Responsibilities:
Must be committed to safe work practices while accomplishing all tasks and promoting a safe work environment at all times. Able to accommodate various working schedules, unexpected long shifts and callouts. Adept at reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills and making decisions. Associates Degree in electronic/instrumentation technology or technology school plus 5 year's experience or seven years strong industrial (mining, chemical, manufacturing, utilities, O&G, etc. ) background or equivalent experience. Expert level with computer hardware, communications and Windows operating system. Intermediate+ level with
PLC/PC/HMI
controllers and industrial networks such as Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, motor controls, servo drives, frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems. Ability to identify, maintain, and troubleshoot Motor Controls, including motor starters, Variable Frequency Drives, DC drives, and diverse electrical components. Industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems. Experience with industrial instrumentation for flow, level, pressure, and temperature. Such as radar, Coriolis, mag, ultrasonic, turbine, guided wave, float, bubblers, DP, RTDs and Thermocouples. Ability to read/interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop sheets, wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings. Ability and willingness to train others with lesser skills. Possess a Valid driver's license with appropriate driving history and ability to operate company vehicles. Must be able to read, write, understand and clearly speak English. Must be able to comply with Drug and Alcohol policy.
Physical Demands:
Repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, standing, and walking. Lifting parts and tools weighing on average 20 pounds, occasionally weighing up to 80 pounds. Dexterity in eye/hand coordination, feet (foot pedals) manual (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation) Working conditions may include small spaces, inside/outside, unlit, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces. Ability to climb ladders, gangways and operate manlifts safely and without limitation.
