Position Summary The Service Technician II (Level 2) is responsible for independently performing routine repairs, preventative maintenance, and foundational diagnostic work on compact construction and agricultural equipment. This role represents the transition from a development-focused technician into a consistent independent contributor, with ownership of standard repair work from diagnosis through completion. Technicians at this level are expected to complete routine repairs with moderate supervision, maintain consistent productivity, and produce accurate, high-quality workmanship and documentation. Emphasis is placed on strengthening troubleshooting methodology, improving repair efficiency, and building confidence identifying root causes of common equipment failures. Success in this role is defined by the ability to consistently complete standard repairs independently, meet labor and productivity expectations, and accurately diagnose common mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues with minimal escalation. This position serves as the primary development stage for advancement into Senior Service Technician (Level 3), where advanced diagnostics, leadership, and higher-level problem-solving expectations increase. Perform routine repairs, preventative maintenance, and component replacements independently Complete standard service work from start to finish with limited supervision Follow manufacturer specifications, dealership procedures, and quality standards for all repairs Maintain consistency in repair quality, workmanship, and productivity Diagnostics & Troubleshooting Diagnose and repair common mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and electrical equipment issues Identify root causes of routine failures using logical troubleshooting methods Utilize diagnostic tools, schematics, service manuals, and technical resources effectively Escalate advanced or complex diagnostic issues appropriately when necessary Productivity & Efficiency Meet standard labor expectations and turnaround time goals consistently Improve repair speed while maintaining workmanship quality and accuracy Manage assigned workload and prioritize tasks effectively Minimize rework through proper diagnostics and repair execution Work Order Management & Documentation Complete work orders accurately, including labor notes, findings, and parts usage Maintain detailed and professional service documentation with minimal correction Ensure documentation supports billing accuracy, warranty requirements, and service transparency Track parts and labor consistently and accurately Shop Operations & Tool Responsibility Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in clean and serviceable condition Demonstrate responsibility and organization with employee-provided tools Support overall shop workflow and operational efficiency Maintain readiness and preparation for assigned work Safety & Compliance Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations Properly use PPE and safe work practices at all times Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas Identify and report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions immediately Team Collaboration & Support Communicate effectively with service advisors, supervisors, dispatch, and team members Support shop workflow and assist with operational needs as required Occasionally assist or support lower-level technicians when appropriate Contribute positively to team performance and dealership culture Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required 2-4 years of experience in compact construction equipment, diesel, automotive, or agricultural equipment repair Demonstrated ability to perform routine repairs independently Basic diagnostic experience across mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and electrical systems Experience with compact equipment and/or tractors preferred Employee-provided tools required Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Required Skills & Competencies Technical Capability (Intermediate) Performs routine repairs independently from start to finish Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and core machine functions Proficient with tools, service equipment, and repair procedures Understands standard maintenance and repair workflows Diagnostic Ability Diagnoses common equipment issues independently Applies structured troubleshooting methodology effectively Builds confidence identifying root causes of routine failures Recognizes limitations and escalates advanced issues appropriately Productivity & Work Execution Consistently meets labor and Systems & Technology Ability to use dealer management systems (e.g., CDK/IntelliDealer) Basic computer proficiency for diagnostics, documentation, and communication Familiarity with digital service records and technical resources Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to bend, climb, kneel, and maintain balance Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs Ability Compensation & Compliance Pay Range:
$25.00 - $33.00/hour (DOE)
Overtime:
