Job Title:
Engineering Technician Job Description We are seeking a motivated Engineering Technician to support the testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of complex electrical and electronic products. This role is well-suited for either an experienced hands-on technician or an entry-level Electrical Engineer who enjoys working at the component level and collaborating closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams. You will play a critical role in diagnosing product and test equipment issues, improving test processes, and supporting production schedules in a highly collaborative, bench-focused environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow long-term within a large, stable, and expanding organization. Key Responsibilities Perform functional and component-level testing and troubleshooting on complex electrical assemblies Diagnose failures in test equipment or fixtures and implement corrective actions Set up, operate, and adjust manual and automated test equipment Collaborate with Electrical Engineering and Manufacturing to clarify designs and improve manufacturability Document and communicate detailed technical issues, root cause findings, and test results to Engineers and Test Supervisors Help define test methods, procedures, and sequences for new or evolving assignments Provide technical guidance and support to department personnel as needed Cross-train in additional job functions to support team flexibility Coordinate work assignments with supervisors to ensure production and project schedules are met Required Skills & Qualifications Strong troubleshooting skills at the circuit and component level Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams Experience using common lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies Familiarity with test equipment, test procedures, and basic test automation concepts Solid understanding of basic math, electronics, and engineering principles Strong documentation and communication skills Preferred /
Additional Qualifications Education:
Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (entry-level candidates welcome) OR Equivalent hands-on experience (including aerospace or defense electronics) Prior experience troubleshooting aerospace, military, or high-reliability electronics Exposure to hardware test plans and engineering documentation Basic CAD experience for creating simple drawings or test fixture layouts Work Environment Primarily a bench / shop-floor technician environment with a strong team-oriented culture Some time spent in a cubicle setting on basic design support, documentation, or fixture drawings Exposure to a wide range of military, aerospace, and commercial electronic systems Fast-paced but well-structured environment with strong engineering support Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bohemia, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
