Qualified candidates will be familiar and experienced in the following areas:
Key Responsibilities:
Install, terminate, splice, and test fiber optic cables in various settings, including commercial, industrial, and residential environments. Conduct thorough inspections and testing of fiber optic cables to ensure proper installation and functionality. Troubleshoot and repair fiber optic cable issues, identifying and resolving problems efficiently. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to determine installation requirements. Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on existing fiber optic networks. Document all work performed, including test results, installations, and repairs. Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards at all times. Collaborate with project managers, clients, and team members to ensure successful project completion.
Requirements:
Minimum of one year of experience in fiber optic installation, termination, and splicing. Proficiency with fiber optic tools and equipment, including fusion splicers, OTDRs, and power meters. Strong understanding of fiber optic theory, including single-mode and multi-mode fibers. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Willingness to work in various environments, including heights and confined spaces. Professional appearance and demeanor. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications in fiber optics, such as FOA CFOT, ETA, or BICSI. Experience with fiber optic network design and planning. Basic computer skills and proficiency with relevant software.
