Position Overview:
This position is an experienced, hands-on electronics technician role focused on troubleshooting, testing, and supporting complex electronic assemblies across engineering, manufacturing, and fielded products. The Electronics Technician will work on-site in a laboratory and production environment, supporting ongoing products rather than a single new development program. This individual will apply advanced technical judgment to diagnose failures, validate repairs, and support design and production improvements for electronic systems that are not always fully documented. This role is primarily focused on testing circuit boards used in finished products, including analog, digital, and mixed-signal boards. Day-to-day work involves applying the correct stimulus to boards, reviewing waveforms to ensure values are within specification, and troubleshooting issues to identify root causes. The position also includes inspecting boards, following documented procedures and work instructions, performing board modifications such as soldering components on or off, and applying a basic understanding of electronics to correctly identify components and ensure proper reassembly. Key Responsibilities Independently build, solder, modify, and rework complex analog and digital PCBs, including fine-pitch surface-mount components Perform advanced PCB-level and system-level debugging of analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, and RF circuits Lead troubleshooting efforts for Doppler ultrasound and RF assemblies, including transmit/receive and signal conditioning stages Support prototype development, engineering changes (ECOs), and design validation testing Diagnose complex failures and perform root-cause analysis on returned or non-conforming products Evaluate and help mitigate EMI/EMC issues through grounding, shielding, filtering, and design feedback Serve as a technical resource and mentor to junior technicians Support calibration, verification, and regulatory testing activities Review and improve test methods, assembly processes, and repair procedures Ensure strict adherence to ESD controls, quality system requirements, and safety standards Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and service teams on continuous improvement initiatives Maintain detailed technical documentation in compliance with FDA/ISO requirements Required Qualifications Associate degree or higher in Electronics Technology or equivalent experience 5+ years of hands-on electronics technician experience Strong mastery of analog, digital, mixed-signal, and RF electronics Proven experience debugging complex PCBs and electronic systems Proficient with advanced test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, etc.) Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions Preferred Qualifications Direct experience with Doppler ultrasound systems or medical electronics Strong background in EMI/EMC troubleshooting and mitigation Experience in an FDA-regulated or
ISO 13485
environment IPC-A-610 and/or
IPC-7711/7721
