Job Title:
Electronics Technician - PCBA (2nd Shift) Job Description The Electronics Technician - PCBA supports printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) production and quality on 2nd shift in a high‑reliability manufacturing environment. This role performs hands‑on troubleshooting, inspection, test support, and rework of electronic assemblies to ensure products meet IPC, customer, and internal quality standards. The technician works closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams to diagnose issues, support failure analysis, and continuously improve production processes. Responsibilities Diagnose and troubleshoot electronic PCB assemblies at the component and board level to resolve functional and quality issues. Perform rework and repair on PCBAs, including surface-mount device (SMD) and through‑hole soldering and desoldering, in accordance with industry standards. Identify root causes of assembly, solder, or component‑related failures and communicate findings to relevant teams. Support failure analysis activities and provide clear feedback to Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering to prevent recurrence of issues. Perform visual, functional, and in‑process inspections of electronic assemblies using schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), assembly drawings, and work instructions. Support electrical test, debug, and verification activities as assigned to ensure products meet performance and reliability requirements. Properly document repairs, defects, test results, and dispositions in quality and manufacturing systems with accurate and complete information. Ensure compliance with IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and specific customer requirements during all assembly, rework, and inspection activities. Support surface-mount technology (SMT), hand assembly, automated optical inspection (AOI), and test operations as needed to meet production goals. Assist with first-article builds, engineering changes, and new production launches by providing technical support and feedback from the manufacturing floor. Identify recurring defects or process issues, escalate concerns appropriately, and contribute to corrective and preventive actions. Maintain a clean, organized, and ESD-compliant workstation and follow all established manufacturing and quality procedures. Essential Skills Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology. At least 2 years of experience as an Electronics Technician, PCBA Technician, or in a similar electronics manufacturing role. Strong hands‑on experience with PCB rework, soldering, and electronics troubleshooting at the component and board level. Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation to support troubleshooting and inspection. Familiarity with common electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, integrated circuits (ICs), and connectors. Proficiency in performing visual, functional, and in‑process inspections of electronic assemblies. Ability to follow and apply IPC-A-610 andJ-STD-001
standards and customer-specific requirements in daily work. Strong documentation skills for recording repairs, defects, and dispositions in quality and manufacturing systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience supporting SMT, hand assembly, AOI, and test operations in an electronics manufacturing environment. Background in supporting first-article builds, engineering changes, and production launches. Experience participating in failure analysis and contributing to corrective action initiatives. Ability to maintain an organized, ESD-safe workstation and follow established manufacturing best practices. Work Environment Work takes place in an ESD-controlled electronics manufacturing environment focused on high‑reliability printed circuit board assemblies. The role operates on 2nd shift, typically from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The technician works at a dedicated workstation equipped for PCB rework, soldering, inspection, and test support, and collaborates closely with production, quality, and engineering personnel on the manufacturing floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Pleasant, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
