Salary:
$100,000 - $115,000 + BonusFounded in 1999, our organization has grown to roughly 150 employees nationwide, with approximately 35-40 team members operating out of our Elgin, IL facility. As a full-service automation solutions provider, we design, integrate, and support advanced control systems, motion platforms, robotics, and industrial automation equipment for manufacturing environments across the Midwest. The Elgin location focuses on custom automation design, PLC/HMI development, system troubleshooting, and field commissioning for a wide range of industrial clients. We support customers in food and beverage, packaging, material handling, automotive, life sciences, and general manufacturing, delivering turnkey automation solutions that improve throughput, reliability, and operational efficiency. The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, programming, and troubleshooting PLC-based automation systems for custom machinery and integrated production lines.

What You Will Be DoingDevelop, program, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems for custom automation equipment using platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar.

Perform on-site and remote commissioning, system startup, and field diagnostics for automated machinery and production lines.

Create electrical schematics, panel layouts, and control system documentation to support design, build, and installation activities.

Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and project engineering teams to deliver complete automation solutions that meet customer specifications.

Provide ongoing technical support, system optimization, and troubleshooting for installed equipment across multiple customer sites.

What You Need for This PositionStrong PLC programming and troubleshooting experience (Allen-Bradley preferred; Siemens a plus).Hands-on experience with HMI development, industrial networks, and control panel hardware.

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P and IDs, and automation documentation.

Experience commissioning automated equipment, diagnosing faults, and resolving controls-related issues in the field.

Knowledge of industrial automation standards, machine safety, and best practices for system integration.
