Job Description

Calibration Technician (Calibrator) -
Technical & Clerical Support :
Protean Instruments (located in Knoxville TN) is seeking a detail-oriented Calibration Technician who can balance hands-on technical work with essential clerical responsibilities. This role is responsible for calibrating and maintaining instrumentation while also supporting documentation, recordkeeping, and administrative functions within the department. The ideal candidate is both technically capable and highly organized, with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
Key Responsibilities :
Perform calibration of electronic test equipment and instrumentation according to established procedures Accurately document calibration results and maintain organized records and certificates Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and escalate or recommend corrective actions Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on instruments as needed Maintain calibration schedules, logs, and compliance documentation Enter calibration data into internal systems and ensure data accuracy Assist with filing, report generation, and document control Coordinate with internal teams to track equipment status and service timelines Support audit preparation by ensuring records are complete and accessible Provide general administrative support to the calibration and quality teams
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification preferred 1-3 years of experience in calibration, electronics, or a related technical field Strong attention to detail in both hands-on work and documentation Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Ability to manage both technical and administrative tasks efficiently Basic understanding of electronic principles and measurement techniques Strong organizational and time management skills
