The IE Technician must be knowledgeable of and follow GMPs and all applicable SOPs. E&I Technicians are required to work closely with operators, mechanics, and management to provide good customer service. IE Technicians are required to trouble shoot electrical and electronic systems to resolve problems encountered during operation and restore the system to an operational state. Job Duties Participates in American Chrome Chemical safety program Troubleshoots equipment breakdowns and restores operation. Conducts routine maintenance and troubleshooting of control systems in both the process and utility areas. Performs preventive maintenance for all equipment. Calibrates instruments, per SOP, as required. Works with maintenance support and stock room personnel to ensure all parts transactions are properly documented. Participates in teams to perform root cause analysis of failures. Assists with checkout and startup of new equipment Communicates equipment details effectively with other maintenance, process, and engineering personnel. Assists the Maintenance Planner by providing feedback on PM (Preventive Maintenance) frequency and job steps. Uses the JD Edwards (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to track work orders, purchase parts, and track time. Makes recommendations to supervisors regarding spare parts inventory. Assists with identifying and standardizing parts between departments. Works with departments on maintenance reliability issues including motors, valves, instruments, controls, controllers, and DCS systems. Communicates with production workers regarding maintenance jobs including status, repairs, and follow-up review. Conducts work activities in an environmentally sound manner by being committed to the protection of the environment. Follows all OSHA (Occupational Health and Safety Administration), NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency), NEC (National Electrical Code), and plant safety procedures and provides feedback when updates or changes need to be made. Possesses a 'hands-on' attitude and is willing to assist fellow maintenance team members with repairs as needed. Must have a demonstrated history of safe work behavior and a sincere desire to follow and improve upon safety policies and procedures. Experience Proficiency in mechanical diagnosis and repair, computer hardware, and software. Mechanical aptitude is essential. Experience with operating specialized computer interfaces as required for diagnosis and troubleshooting. Experience with industrial packaging/warehouse equipment and control systems a plus. Must be proficient with computer programs such as MS Office and must be able to learn support systems such as JD Edwards with minimal individualized training. Must be able to climb stairs, perform some lifting, sit, or stand for long periods, work at heights, bend, kneel, and be able to be respirator qualified. Must be able to work in all environmental conditions, including temperature extremes. Must be willing to work on shifts or overtime as required. Qualifications Electrical/instrumentation background, with a minimum of a 2-year technical degree or 5 years of experience in an industrial environment. Must be qualified to work on all electrical equipment from 24VDC to 5 KV. Must be able to read and understand electrical drawings, instrument indexes, and computerized data archives.
