Mechanic I (Light Duty)

Overview Summary Performs preventative maintenance and routine mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs on company assets to include all light duty vehicles and trailers Works in both a shop and field environment. Light Duty Maintenance:

Performs preventative maintenance on half ton to one ton equipment according to established guidelines and time frames. Keeps accurate and detailed records of failures and repairs in Computerized Maintenance Management System. Acts as an assistant to more senior Mechanics on larger jobs.

Troubleshooting:

Troubleshoots and diagnoses routine problems or recurring malfunctions of company assets and chooses course of action. Consults with supervisor to ensure accuracy of diagnosis and approval for work. Completes troubleshooting repairs and/or modifications work on equipment.

Tool Maintenance:

Performs daily inspections of tools and equipment used. Ensures cleanliness of hand tools, equipment and parts. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum one year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of computer use and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of CMMS software is a plus. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid Driver License. Other Skills and Abilities Strong communication and time management skills. Ability to work under pressure. Other Qualifications Bilingual in English and Spanish.
